Zoners were always meant to be neutral. So keep it neutral and the chances are youl never need any kind of weapons. Anyway, it's the smallest of the five and so it's alot more maneuverable.

I believe every reason for the absence of turrets has been given in this thread, and no real valid reasons for the presence of turrets have been given.

It hasn't got weapons, nor is it ever likely to get them either. It has other attributes that balance
it out in the greater scheme of things. If you want guns, get another ship, if you want the cargo
space, be A Zoner.

I only got *one* response to my
'ONE class-2 turret hardpoint, for a mining laser' idea.
(all class-2 turrets have absolutely NO self-defence capability in a quantity of 1.)
the Mining laser will balance it against the SuperTransports of other factions that can mine if they choose to.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with adding one mining laser to it.
However, they must be so balanced that such an addition could have adverse affects on the entire mod.

What world changing event will come from a Zoner Whale getting to shoot one or two rocks per second?
It would still be better for a mining ship to team up with them...
The Zoner Whale doesn't get a yield bonus at all even...

Zoners are not miners.
Basically, they either produce food and distribute it or distribute goods made by others.
They don't really produce much, and a Zoner mining would not be anywhere much in Zoner RP.
If you're going out into the boondocks to mine, get an IMG, not a Zoner.
