Changing forum software - Dubstep - 07-29-2012 Okay Govedo, you can be the first one to donate 10€ and find other ~11 friends who'll do the same just to upgrade the current forums instead of getting new, free ones. Changing forum software - Govedo13 - 07-29-2012 Dubstep in Economics free is meter of perspective. If you take the Costs Controlling PoV you need to write down the hours that Cannon and others should spent in the transfer, add some price per hour and at the end you would see that it costs more then to update. I mean that working hours often costs a lot so it is just cheaper to update then to transfer. Considering that Cannon is the only one that can code in the Community and we all can make money his time should be valued the most on this principle: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarcity There is of course other option - you find 10 friends and make the transfer, fix the bugs etc. Both options are equally economical viable, it depends what you value more- money or time. Edit- multitasking fail it was indeed not readable. Changing forum software - Dubstep - 07-29-2012 ' Wrote:Dubstep is Economics free is meter of perspective. Everything else is just, well, random letters combined into words, combined into sentences that hardly make sense. Changing forum software - Soban - 07-29-2012 I have no problem, or like other ppl said gather some found to upgrade. But one question, Are you able to copy all the forum post ( mainly all the rp one) and paste them if we choose a new forum? Changing forum software - Junes - 07-29-2012 I have no experience in any of these forum types nor do I particularly care what it's going to be as long as the content of this forum, especially the RP posts, can be retrieved and transfered to a new board. Changing forum software - Timbuktu - 07-29-2012 No matter what you do, don't start every single link on the main forum overview with "Discovery RP 24/7" and only then the real information. Example: Instead of Discovery RP 24/7 Role play section Discovery RP 24/7 General Discussion Discovery RP 24/7 Factions Discovery RP 24/7 Mod General Discussions Discovery RP 24/7 Server Rules do this: Role play section General Discussion Factions Mod General Discussions Server Rules Its absolutely anoying and stupid to have to look for something the way it is now. Changing forum software - Tunicle - 07-29-2012 http://www.forumotion.com/ works well in my experience Changing forum software - Not Espi - 07-29-2012 we need forum software, not a new domain, tunicle. Changing forum software - Marburg - 07-29-2012 In the end, y'all will do whatever needs doin' & get it done with whatever you got, so I'm adaptable & cool with whatever y'all get ::shrug:: ...Pssst! Hey. C'mere... ::looks over shoulder:: "1st off, this post never happened, you get me?" ::scans the top of the post with a bugsweeper:: "You guys could always endorse an official pledge drive weekend event, type thingie or somethin' to cover update costs." "I mean, it couldn't hurt to think about, Right?" Changing forum software - Loken - 07-29-2012 I think upgrading to the latest version of IPB would be the best choice for familiarity and compatibility. I've already offered to donate a large chunk of that $175 and I don't think you would have too much trouble raising the rest. |
