Lagnom is lost in hyperspace already but his lag causes him to drop out from time to time.

Our battleships barely have 1.5k cargo

Wise words.

FTL Drive looks excellent and will open some unique interaction possibilities. I, for one, am excited.

@Jose: I don't know if cloaking needs a counter so that people can detect you per-say, but perhaps make it so you can only move at impulse speed while cloaked and cannot dock with anything. But of course, we wont know exactly how it will work until it comes out.

So far I must say I LOVE .86;)

I find it kind of ironic that the people complaining that this will ruin RP cite balance reasons for why it's ruining RP, which always occurs to me as more of a metagame/PvP-motivated argument.

The concept is interesting and a I look forward to seeing it in practice but I do have some comments to make of my own.

Based on the numbers that have been provided, I can't see how this can be used by any ship. unless you have multiple vessels feeding the drive.

By the video, The drive takes 1500 Units of cargo space
The Surveyor takes another 1000 Units

You have also stated a Battleship is needed to power the core as no other ship has the power to do it.

Based on just those numbers, that means NO battleship can equip both units as the largest cargo hold of any battleship class is 2000 (Liberty Carrier) which would make them always blind jumps and render the survey unit useless (Unless these cargo stats have been modified in 4.86 or another vessel can survey for the jumping ship)

It burns 15 to 20 Mox a second and takes 4 and a half minutes to charge
That means it takes anywhere between 4050 and 5400 Mox to power the drive once (Not including the rate of decay of the MOX meaning you will likely need more)

Let's also add in that most capital ships use armor upgrades which means you would likely have to remove them to use the device at all and in some Battleships case, even just install the unit (and a couple of ships can't even install it with an empty hold).

Please correct me if i am wrong but just based on the available information, I don't see how any vessel can use the unit (Beyond blind jumping) in it's current state except maybe a Barge and I do not know if that ship has the power core need to use it.

As a side note, I like the design of the old battlestar and I can't see such a limited device ruining any kind of RP (Same for the cloak, the few minutes a GB could get out of it will not make or break anything I think)

The information given in the video is not fully informed.

As in, jump drives are not as useless as shown.

You'll know more soon.

Awesome :yahoo:
One question though: Docking modules are for battleships only? Perhaps an LABC could mount one, yes,no ?

Tis a shame the T-bay will never get a working jumpdrive... least I can put a cloak on her though :D
