Losing your ship on death is abit much, I agree; but that's mainly because of the equipment and not the actual ship itself. You can make 40-50 million from a single 5K transport full of ore and an average traderoute nets about 20 million with a 3K cargohold. A death penalty of some sort wouldn't be as bad as some of the people here are making it out to be.

Wake up man. Price of 5k transport is between 120 and 185 milion and minimum of that cost is equipment. And we still are not talking about liner - do you know that Renzu liner cost around 400 million?

Your presumtion is that everone is hauling the best cargo on best way, or ore, that everyone is power trader, so everyone can really fast make money. I hauled gold ore and it is not so easy as you think. While loading in Dublin from miner, pirates and mollys can appear and tax you, and tax you a lot because they know you will have big profit (from my experience between 5-10 million). Same fits for pirates on the way. And your counts are also wrong. In 4.85 you earned 36 million for 5k transport full of gold ore in Ingolstadt or Detroit. But there was price agreement between most miners in Dublin about mining price of 3k per unit. So you bought ore for 15 million and sell for 36 million, which mean profit of 21 million (less when you was taxed), not yours "40-50" million from single transport.

I'm always wondering what are you doing with that lot of money. As far as I realised, anybody can make 100 mills per 1-2 hours so anybody can have more than enough. You like capships? Well, than be a powertrader and be a proud one once you get it.

However if somebody can get a simple vhf, bomber it could be fun. Better than in caps, and how much is one? Max 30 millions? Thats 2 trade run...1 hour.

So I dont really understand what are we talking about...

Lolwut/oorp/silent trader => 5mlrdie and blue text shortly after
Decent trader => RP and fun combined with low demands

Simple, right?

So what you are saying is: Why do people here yell if they need 6 hours at 100Mil and hour(your words, but wrong) to get a BS, then play 10 minutes, and maybe be unlucky to get a gank squad of bombers kill you, then go waste 6 more hours to get it back?
I do not think so lad. That would kill Discovery in under 24 hours.

Yes, if you are sitting in a 5k transport. You forgot that some people here want to apply that if you die, you lose your ship. So you have 5k transport and then poof, you are in starflier. This is not about one hour of trading then.

No buddy...I sad, who cares for virtual credits? You can earn more than enough, than why need to cry about something what isnt important? The ooc part is a serious problem, sure, but thats a common thing on the Disco. There are some players who like RP and do it, but most of the "community" are just pew pew-ers. Deal with it.

Sure, thats another part of the story, by the way they will be one of the firsts who starts QQ when they lost a cau8 BS by a lolgank bombersquad.

Today I ran three runs from Omega 7. I paid a miner 10 million to fill up my Salvager (3350 cargo) each time. I made approximately 34 million credits each trip, with a cargo hold of 3350. I paid the miner a total of 30 million for each of the three trips and I made about 72 million credits in just under 50 minutes. In total, I made about 102 million credits overall. This is with a 3350 cargo hold.

I could probably start a new character, and buy a battleship with CAU 8 in about 3 days (or less, if really determined). Money has no value even though your entire argument is based on money.

I'm done with this thread, because it's not going anywhere at this point and this community has always been against any form of change.

Death penalty which removes a player's ship is a little over the top.

I'll be the first to tell you that I hate most traders. None of them make a pirate's job hard. They don't take any choices given to them and they don't try to create any choices for themselves. They are docile and utterly pathetic.

That said, there are times when I thought I could get away from a pirate and have not. I have been thankful that my ship remained. There are probably times where you had tried to get away from a pirate and have not. I'm pretty sure you were happy, too.

Be a mean pirate. It's a much better alternative to the situation or poorly motivated traders than anything which can be hard coded.

I bought my Barge 5 or 6 days ago I believe?

Started with ~$100,000,000 leftover

Already Cap 8'ed it and now back up to $226m.

Nearly the only reason most people trade, (except for occassional cool 'events' like supplying stations, which wont be occasional anymore hopefully with the new player bases coming out)

is to get to a ship where they feel they can RP the best.
Should'nt be that way but apparently the admins/devs are intent on making this feel like an MMORPG and they feeling like the leaders controlling all of the 40 year old virgins below them.

Makes some feel powerful.
