Decent trader => RP and fun combined with low demands

Simple, right?

-This has Hans the Gay Farmer's Seal of Approval

Oh, and +1 to everything Spire said.

My little tip to pirates; If you ever find yourself frustrated by a trader who is completely ooRP, the best course of action is always SNACshun followed by sanction.

My little tip to traders; If you ever find yourself frustrated by a pirate who is completely ooRP, pay him one credit and continue to insist that it is, in fact, his requested amount, until he goes insane.

Givecash doesn't work below 100k, but apart from that I like the idea

Heres how most of my few pirate interactions so far have gone

Pirate: Gimmie 2 mil.
Me: (Says something other than giving cash)
Pirate: DIE!!!!
Pirate Killed Ash
Me: Why do I even bother

So I don't anymore. I am a silent trader. Well, not a silent trader as in just tries to run past every pirate. More silently sneeks past you while pretending not to be a trader.

I have only ever payed one pirate, but that was only because only I had the comon sense to avoid the pirate flying straight towards my miner and my mates, for whatever reason, didn't.
And just to show how long ago this was I was mining copper in Colorado. A system which, to be honest, isen't seeing that much activity since copper was axed.

why dont we all admit it, lolwut pirates and lolwut traders are just as common as the other. only difference is u dont get a bunch of traders demanding 2m for 11 ships. which happened to me too, i died a inside just a little that day. do i prosecute every pirate for the actions of those 11? no! so why would u take it out on every trader because u encounter some lolwut bucket head? i agree as stated, if i didnt get the pay me now or die message, idk maybe id have more fun. but nooooo. i have neverr once made a /setmsg, why? because every situation is different and i dont have a template, i make it up as i go along, as should everyone.

if u dont feel like rp'ing, which i do sometimes when im tired or something, just pay and move along.
and when im also in that mood, if i get the "pay me 10m or die" message, i just die and log off. because lolwuts ruin my day, there i was having fun and i got some guy whos no better than a super jumper on halo ruining my legit gameplay.

everyone on this game is unique and different, u walk in the store, the guy before u holds the door, u walk out of the store with groceries and the guy in front of u doesnt care. crap happens, ppl are different, they still havent put in an auto door at the store. my point? it aint fair and it sucks, but if they aint gonna install an auto-door, the admins arent going to permaban anyone for dieing.

I think sometimes we forget that pirates and traders actually need each other.
Without traders, there would be no one to pirate. Without pirates, trading would be boring.
Its a mutually beneficial game of cat and mouse we play.

So if a trader doesnt say anything when you pirate them, maybe one of these is the reason.

1. Their english isnt very good.
2. They are a slow typer (this has happened to me, I was in the middle of typing a reply to a pirate, and he started blasting away, I finally got my mesage out, but was half-killed and it was too late to put up a good fight.)
3. They just bought ship, and really dont have any credits to pay with but dont want to explain.
4. They prefer to die with quiet dignity rather than beg for their lives.

So if a trader doesnt act the way you want at least you get the joy of getting a blue message, that is at least some consolation, the blown up trader gets none.

I have a few complaints I would like to make about unreasonable pirates, but in all honesty for every unreasonable pirate encounter I have, I also have encounters with some very professional fun pirates.
Tonight I met a pirate who was actually willing to duel me to see whether or not I paid him. I lost and paid him and was glad for the experience I got from it. It was credits well spent. So I will keep my complaints about unreasonable "give me 15-20 million credits or die pirates to myself."

Well, thats my 2 cents, thanks for letting me express it.

' Wrote:The problem with playing a pirate, is trader go 'OOHH LOOK! A PIRATE! DAIII!' or 'OHH GAWD! A PIRATE! GTFO!' which makes pirating really hard, and most the time boring... cause you either kill an easy trader, or you let someone run...

Basically, I agree with the people who say 'RP BEFORE ANYTING ELSE' cause otherwise all you get are lolwuts doing a runner without even saying bye...
/endrant

I have been in both sides... as the 5milordie pirate... to the trader style system://attack me and i'll report you or //you cannot pirate me i'll tell to admins ,etc etc etc.... and i can count more thand fingers that has my hand... obviously... that provides me great fun... he's pirated anyway. Or the tipical who don't stop... and if you do the "quick sentence", seeing that he will not give you a chance to RP it correctly... and happened a lot of times begins to say to you in system: //RP? where? or the classical lrn2Rp.... while he's trying to run away... that done'st give room for any solid RP

I love the single little Pirate on TLs that pirate. 2 days ago in my Shire 1 popped out with the "2 mil or dai". I said NP buddy, but then you pay me 5 mil or dai. He was like no freaking way. Response was Thats your choice, and i opened up with all 12 guns. He went poof before he finished typing "you d"
That is trader satisfaction. 12 turrets at 1K a pop vs lone bomber. Much fun.

Point 1 and 2 happens for me.

That's a good story. Interesting too, I made an OC gunboat for a specific situation and went to pirate some indy pirates for practice. Every single one of them refused to make payment.
