Kusari Heavy Fighters - Haste - 03-10-2014

Let me keep this brief.

Durandal's new, fancy and hittable VHFs were added.

At the same time, the old (tiny) Very Heavy Fighters were made into Heavy Fighters, with the highest agility of their class (Karasu- / Saishi-like). They also happen to be smaller than any other ships as fast as them. At the same time, power cores for Heavy Fighters were given incredibly high regeneration rates.

This means that the new Katana / Blossom / Chimaera are much faster than they used to be, while being able to put out a lot more sustained DPS, having a slightly smaller shield and a tad less hull.

They used to be among the best VHFs in the mod. Now they're probably the best fighters overall in the mod once again. Not a good way to stimulate the use of the Raijin, Tachi and whatever-the-hell-the-third-one-is-called.

I probably could've pointed this out in certain Skype chats but I'm slightly intoxicated so making a thread about it seemed like a good idea for some reason.

Edit:
Mandatory DISCUSS.

RE: Kusari Heavy Fighters - sindroms - 03-10-2014

Make all other HFs with similar stats and we will have a choice over tremendous sustained DPS and tanking.

RE: Kusari Heavy Fighters - Haste - 03-10-2014

The reason these ships are so amazing is not necessarily their agility + sustained DPS, it's that they're tiny AND have those exceptional stats. The other really fast HFs such as the Bayonet, Saishi and Karasu are actually rather large. The Saishi probably has the smallest frontal profile of those three, but has a very large side profile. The Chimaera & friends have small overall profiles instead.

Making "all other HFs like this" would mean scaling a lot of them down. It'd also make VHFs entirely useless.

RE: Kusari Heavy Fighters - Ryummel - 03-10-2014

Amir is already aware of the issue, but would be better if you could propose stats fitting these heavy fighters with no 'drawbacks' in their shape, as opposed to examples such as Bayonet (flat yet expanded) and Karasu (large) profiles.

RE: Kusari Heavy Fighters - Omi - 03-10-2014

Having flown a Katana for a good bit since the update, I can safely say that it's one of the most broken things I've ever laid my hands on.

I will unashamedly whore it until it is fixed, though.

RE: Kusari Heavy Fighters - sindroms - 03-10-2014

Sure, scale them down. Also, rename heavy fighters to simply Fighters. And then we can have Light Fighters. Fighters. Then merge the SHF class with the VHF class.

Light fighters. Fighters. Heavy fighters.

Boosh. So the main fighting vehicles are fighters, which are small, fast, have less armor than our currently used VHFs and are skill-based. So everyone can just make the whole class as elite as possible.

Time to get some more OP ships to play with!

RE: Kusari Heavy Fighters - t0l - 03-10-2014

Gonna go grab me a Katana.

RE: Kusari Heavy Fighters - Yaoquizque - 03-10-2014

Slightly nerf core regen rate;
Remove cd and cm slot;
(For Katana and Chimie only, that is)

That will force people to team up with someone using a LF or a raijin if they want to catch anything.

RE: Kusari Heavy Fighters - Omicron - 03-10-2014

Problem is that there is no incentive to use those new Kusari VHF's as well.

Tachi is twice as fat, fields only marginally better powercore, is decisively slower and recompensates it only with 300 more armor than katana! Nobody will ever use it.
