Deleted Systems - Laz - 01-11-2016 InRP How are we supposed to explain deleted systems, like guard systems and what not? RE: Deleted Systems - Kauket - 01-11-2016 they don't exist anymore - and assets that were in guard systems were relocated RE: Deleted Systems - Laz - 01-11-2016 Yet how inRP are we meant to say what happens to them? RE: Deleted Systems - Skorak - 01-11-2016 Most systems simply got retconned. So there is no explanation. They never existed. There is one Gallic system where they have some even shutting the system down I believe. That's it. RE: Deleted Systems - jammi - 01-11-2016 Retcon means they retroactively never existed. Don't acknowledge them at all. Some systems and bases have been removed as progression though, although these are usually fairly obviously signposted. For example Gallic Junkers were removed, but they weren't retconned. Their demise was a development and the aftermath of that arc can still be seen ingame. RE: Deleted Systems - Laz - 01-11-2016 Wouldn't it make more sense just to make up some convenient story like: 'Oh yeah that system. the jump holes became un phasealigned RE: Deleted Systems - Skorak - 01-11-2016 For a lot of systems that wouldn't work. For Omicrons you might do that as an explanation. I personally dislike the retcon fever within a RP community, destroys immersion and player impact. It's like running away from a case, or just don't care about a breathing environment. RE: Deleted Systems - Skorak - 01-11-2016 I don't like retconns either but it gets a bit ridiculous to explain 10-20 vanished systems. It isn't that you have to explain each system. It's about having an explanation pattern separated in groups. For example system A, B, C have been left, because a working infrastructure can't be maintained effective. Another example, the systems ... have been left, due to ongoing war actions and surprising assaults, we can't guarantee safety for our citizens anymore.... |
