Discovery Screenshot Contest - Igiss - 08-15-2006 I wanted to run this contest for a long time now, but always forgot, or something more important seized my attention. But now... well, we need new mod logo, we need more promotional screenshots, and we just need a small event about screenshot showcase. So, why not? Rules of contest are simple. There are two nominations, scenery screenshots and action screenshots. Scenery include... well, scenery and ships, any 'peaceful' screenshots. Action include combat with other players or NPCs. Winners (that will be determined by voting) will get certain prizes in-game. 1 - 100 million credits 2 - 70 million credits 3 - 40 million credits And maybe additional items. Any thoughts? Discovery Screenshot Contest - marauder - 08-15-2006 Sounds good to me, I can finally use all those screenies I've got of ships I've owned... Are you going to make a seperate thread for this or do you want us to post them here? Discovery Screenshot Contest - Badger - 08-15-2006 Ooh, count me in :0) Let's get one thing clear right at the start: No photoshoppery. This means no applying filters or effects or drawing on the screenshots to make them look different from how they do in-game. Let's say cropping images (ie: cutting off the HUD) and adjusting the brightness is all fair game though. Maybe it's time I purchased a camera ship? Discovery Screenshot Contest - Igiss - 08-15-2006 I'd prefer them with HUD, and prefer standard resolution (like 800x600, 1024x768 etc). But you may cut HUD away if you like. You are right, no Photoshop allowed (except for very basic brightness/contrast tweaks). I'll start a new thread... probably tomorrow. Discovery Screenshot Contest - Constantine - 08-15-2006 Well, all my screen shots are of killing venom lol, thats about 300 or so, i killed him too many times :P I'll see what i can do about some other ones. Discovery Screenshot Contest - Badger - 08-15-2006 Ah ok, leaving HUD on is easier. Thought it'd look better for the scenery category shots. I play in pretty high resolution... would you want me to resize screenies down to 1024x768 or something easier to look at on lower res displays? Discovery Screenshot Contest - Igiss - 08-15-2006 Bigger ones are also OK, probably I'll have to change image attachment settings to support them. Discovery Screenshot Contest - Badger - 08-15-2006 Putting them on the forum is no problem, I can link thumbnails from Imageshack like I do with most of my pics, in my opinion posting the images right into the thread will slow everything down and be a problem for people with limited bandwidth. Posting links to the pictures or as I do, thumbnail links from an imagedump host, will be easier on the forum :0) Discovery Screenshot Contest - gezza999 - 08-15-2006 Errr.. What about auto leveling? It just changes the levels of the pic.. x.x Discovery Screenshot Contest - Badger - 08-15-2006 Quote:What about auto leveling? Quote:no Photoshop allowed (except for very basic brightness/contrast tweaks)I think that qualifies. Although I've found auto-levels isn't the best for Freelancer shots, as it tends to try and adjust colours with default white-balance, whereas most of the Freelancer universe is not lit by pure white light. I think the better way of adjusting pictures is doing the brightness/contrast levels manually on the histogram in Photoshop (ctrl + L). That way it doesn't mess with the colour hues. |
