Corsair / Outcast [TAG] Player_Name? - Teknishun - 01-06-2020 I noticed most Corsair players don't have any [TAG] in front of their name. I saw that most of the official factions have a tag, but the Corsairs only have [TBH] and C:: which is technically not a pure Corsair tag, it's The Brother Hood and the Custodi, which is more like a sub-faction of the Corsairs, but I can't find a tag for Corsairs only. The only way to know if someone is Corsair is either to literally locate them in game and check their IFF once close to them (Corsair~Player_Name), or if they are part of [TBH] or C::. This might sound silly, but the most accurate way to pin-point a Corsair player is if they used an Hispanic name and are located in the Omicron systems. I would really like to have a [TAG] like the other official factions so that people looking at the players list could see "Ah okay this guy is a Corsair and he's in that system" So they can better join or avoid us. I use this a lot when I'm playing on my smuggler to locate Lawful players and avoid them, for example if I see a bunch of [LSF] in New York I know I have to be ultra careful. On a side note the Outcast have the same problems. They only have [NC] which is the National Council of Malta. The same problems applies to them. Is there any way I can put something in front of my character name to indicate to other players that I'm with the Corsairs? I would like to just put [Corsair], but if someone is next to me it would display [Corsair]Corsair~Player_Name (because of the IFF) which looks a bit silly and also might be too long for players with long names. Looks to me like Corsairs and Outcasts don't have any official [TAG], only sub-faction [TAG] https://discoverygc.com/wiki/Official_Player_Factions RE: Corsair / Outcast [TAG] Player_Name? - Groshyr - 01-06-2020 MNS- for Outcast caps and CNS- for Corsair caps. Pretty simple, isn't it? > On a side note the Outcast have the same problems. They only have [NC] which is the National Council of Malta. The same problems applies to them. The National Council lost officialdom about half of the year ago RE: Corsair / Outcast [TAG] Player_Name? - Teknishun - 01-06-2020 Hey thanks a lot ! What does MNS and CNS stands for? I think CNS is Corsair Navy Ship, but MNS? RE: Corsair / Outcast [TAG] Player_Name? - Groshyr - 01-06-2020 Sure. MNS - Abbreviation for Maltese Navy Ship CNS - Abbreviation for Corsair Navy Ship It is pretty outdated but still useful: https://discoverygc.com/wiki/Glossary RE: Corsair / Outcast [TAG] Player_Name? - Teknishun - 01-06-2020 Awesome, thanks a lot man ! RE: Corsair / Outcast [TAG] Player_Name? - Kokopelli - 01-06-2020 Custodi are also no more. So, it's only [TBH] for Corsairs these days. For Outcasts, it's mostly IRMM~ and *MR. I wouldn't worry too much. You can easily identify capital ships by prefixes Groshyr gave you. As for snubs, it's just like you said, a Hispanic (or generally Mediterranean)-sounding name is a dead giveaway. It's not that hard to identify Corsairs or Outcasts by their character name, so people can definitely do that if they seek to join or avoid their company. Though, to be sure, you could always give your character a Greek name, since Crete is home to people of Greek ancestry. IIRC, the late Custodi were heavily influenced by Greek culture. There are also many people of Italian ancestry among Outcasts, but same might go for Liberty, so it's a bit more difficult here ![]() RE: Corsair / Outcast [TAG] Player_Name? - Alestone - 01-06-2020 Technically, the OP is requesting a method for metagaming. I understand that you want to avoid someone when you are conducting haulage, but doing so by looking at a tag is not character knowledge, but rather Player knowledge. RE: Corsair / Outcast [TAG] Player_Name? - Maltz - 01-06-2020 MNS-Paella vs. CNS-Gyros RE: Corsair / Outcast [TAG] Player_Name? - R.I.P. - 01-06-2020 Not every Corsair will be tagged anyways, usually only official and unofficial faction groups. Indie corsairs can be named anything without a tag on them. RE: Corsair / Outcast [TAG] Player_Name? - Pepe - 01-06-2020 We didn't mention Amused|Pepe- tag, which was my favorite. Faction had two members (obviously both deeply in love with my char) and lasted three days ![]() Watching the player list while playing is really an act of metagaming, but almost all do it. Game also offers showing arriving/departing player option, rewarding us for even more metagaming. There were many pros and contras when we voted about it, so we decided to keep it. You might stop using it one day, to make the game more interesting. |
