Nothing unusual there. The curiosity is that the ship was found not within the Omegas or Rheinland, but on the edge of the Gamma system.

The salvaged navigation computer stopped recording the moment the ship entered the Omega 5 system. Inexplicably, it ended light years ahead of its destination. Carbon age also showed that there is a one year discrepancy between the ship's computers and the onboard crew. Also noteworthy is the fact that the ship was damaged inside out, signs of battle and armed gunfights were present in all habitation decks.

I suspect the original crew fell for some sort of Nomad ambush. Or, perhaps, suffered from a terrible chain of events that led to a Nomad intervention.

I have no doubts against my assumption that this "entity" is attached to the ship itself, as if it was its territory. There's no reason, so far, to believe it is defending something within the ship. Only a few parts of the ship are original - There's nothing we haven't replaced, pretty much.
