Metagaming - atlantis2112 - 07-27-2009 I'd like to know what it is :$ Metagaming - BaconSoda - 07-27-2009 Using out of RP information on a character that shouldn't know those things or giving yourself excessive RP powers over others without actually playing it out ingame. Metagaming - atlantis2112 - 07-27-2009 THANK YOU! Metagaming - masternerdguy - 07-27-2009 ' Wrote:I'd like to know what it is :$ what he said, except here are some examples:
Metagaming - Thexare - 07-27-2009 At its core, it's using knowledge your character shouldn't have. That definition does leave room for a few beneficial uses - if you know there's a Corsair Decurion in Omega-7, you can leave your BHG Gunship at home - so it more commonly refers to using such knowledge to your advantage. For example, using your gunship because you know it's a Decurion. EDIT: Damn ninjas! Go away! Shoo! *sprays ninja repellant around* Metagaming - Guest - 07-27-2009 person A watches a smuggler undock from Malta, they switch to their LNS battlecruiser and go camp Beamont base, saying he had been given info on the convoy. Metagaming - worldstrider - 07-27-2009 Other examples are: "My ship is cloaked you can't shoot it." "I am a powerful telepath from another galaxy and am mentally controlling your pilot now." "I am the King of Gallia and control all the bases and the military." Or is that powergaming? I get so confused;)Bacon's def is pretty much it. Another example of metagaming, Looking in *closed/secure* communications on the forums when you are not part of that faction or communication, for information. It's ok to read them for fun, but not to use any info you see in there. It's usually best to stay out, if you have problems controlling yourself. Its so exciting to be mentioned:D Metagaming - crimecities - 07-27-2009 Using the 'players online list' to tell where people are at is a perfect example of metagaming |
