so idea is that say all food rations would be some what PERISHABLE and you would have to carry some with you at all times and depending on how big your ship/crew is you would go throw it all at a different pace and some time after you run out you died
there would need to be some sort of warning systems to tell you your all about to die of starvation
balancing to make this work right mite take time but i think it would add alot if factions had to pay for food for there members all the time/ keep there armys going / or get food from there planets to there people in space idea needs work but i think it in over all could add to realsim about wars and such

thoughts?

The only thing is that all commodities drop at a rate of one per minute as discussed in another thread lately.
We would first need to determine if this can ba adjusted.
Don't want to hold 60 food every hour in a fighter.

i was told that highly PERISHABLE commodities decay twice as fast as others so i figered it could be changed

and also hfuel, and oxygen, and water, and mox for capitols? And Oil for gallians? And what about luxury food and synth paste?

1. thought:
Wall of text is baaad, mkay?;)

2. thought:
Situation:
Player has no more food and dies. So ... the ship explodes:D
THAT's not realistic;)

realism sugestion - AeternusDoleo - 07-06-2011

Scenario:
Ship docks at a base that does not sell food.
Ship undocks, gets into a fight. Goes boom.
Ship has no more food 'cause upon boom it floats in space.
Ship undocks again. No food. Goes boom. Rinse. Repeat.

This idea would not work and is just plain annoying to the players. I'm against.

Giving capital ships an expensive fuel that they can use as a thruster fuel? (so the cargo will be reduced, instead on thruster enginge %'s.)

No idea if its even realistic to implement... just my 2 cents.

There are far more pressing realism ideas, then food for thought. SPazz is right tho. Sadly.

I'd be damned if Gallia's success relies on ancient motor oil. Or you mean cooking oil?
