Changing forum software - Cannon - 07-29-2012

Our forum software, Invision Power Boardt, is rather old and the version we use is no longer supported. We can upgrade to a later version but this'll cost money that we'd rather not spend. The admin team is considering changing to free forum software, something like SMF or MyBB. Before we select something, we'd like to know what people in the community think - if indeed anybody cares. If you know of a good forum package, post your thoughts please.

EDIT: I'm clearly going mad, I'd written Invision Board Point rather than Invision Power Board. Go figure.

Implement post rating and a karma meter. Would make people think twice before posting.

Would it be possible to keep the current forum?

Anything that is similar to what we use now. At least, anything with the Blue Solution color scheme of dark grey, at least optionally. Some of us have very photosensitive eyes and have trouble with white or light blue interfaces (like Skype).

Some of the other sites I deal with use vBulletin and it works rather well. MyBB works well too from what I've seen.

I'd say keep it as it is currently or switch to something that's pretty similar. A total and complete change would be a bit much.
