My current project - Vape - 05-15-2008 here is da latest render basically i rounded everything off (reduced the box effect) and am going to send it in for texturing/hardpointing. just want some comments on it:) NOTE: reason why this is a new thread is because i lost where the old one is My current project - ParanoidAndroid - 05-15-2008 It reminds me a submarine or it looks like a distorted cucumber... My current project - Turkish - 05-15-2008 If I may quote my brother; "It looks like a Nomad penis" My current project - kindred - 05-15-2008 ' Wrote:If I may quote my brother; Err where did he get the comparative source from? :shok: My current project - pim - 05-15-2008 Dunno, but submarine is good... We may make it a agile bomber...Or nomad ship...Or both... My current project - sovereign - 05-15-2008 ' Wrote:Err where did he get the comparative source from? :shok: I'm guessing a party got a little Wilde  Dunno who it would fit with, it doesn't look Nomad, it doesn't look human, and it doesn't look Wild... My current project - Boss - 05-15-2008 Distorted cucumber, yes, it does. Er, what exactly is it supposed to be? A gunboat or what? EDIT: Put a texture on it and then let me see. (no blue glow-y one, please...Blast you anyways Turkish.) My current project - Jinx - 05-15-2008 here is ( hopefully ) a bit of constructive critizism... the top view looks good - really.. the front view is OK - but the blocky version looked better ( more spaceship like ) edit: on second thought - the front view is good, too - no real need to change much there. the sideview is - well, shapeless.... it looks the way things appear after a hardcore drinking contest ... so all in all - i d suggest you get back to the more blocky stages of the model and start adding details. the mainframe of the model has been quite old - and its most certainly not a bad basis - but i don t think you re getting anywhere when you don t start the rather boring work of adding freelancer typical details to it. - in case you still aim to get that ship into the mod as a missile frigate. the engines look bad - ( well, all in all, it looks like you made a "select all" and "make round edges" ) .. if you turn the engines back into their original hexagon and blocky shape, it ll look much better than those "soft" ones. and then start on adding details ( can t say it too often ) - a bridge ( a real one ), windows, hmmm.. missile racks - now its supposed to be a missile ship, isn t it? - i am sure its still a long time till the next version comes out .... but it won t be an eternity... so i d suggest you keep moving. i cannot tell you much advice there cause i don t do 3dmax - but i think what the ship really needs is typical spaceship characteristics. - air intakes ( yea - unlogical, but they look good on ships ), heatsinks, armour plating ( just emboss some faces - its easy and has an incredible good effect ) give the ship more "shape" - it does look like an amoeba right now. - it needs "parts" that anyone can easily tell - like a front part, a mid section and a distinct rear. - one can usually even tell whats front and read on nomad ships - and thats a liberty ship... even someone not familiar with freelancer should be able to tell whats up, down, front and rear on the first glance. My current project - AdamantineFist - 05-16-2008 Only faction I know of with such rounded ships (except for the Nomads) is Bretonia. I don't think it quite fits into Bret designs, though. My current project - Xing - 05-16-2008 I can only think of a nomad coupled for some strange reason with a sbumarine bridge. way too smooth to be a FL human ship and not in line with nomad standard design... this thing doesnt seems to be from this universe in fact... |
