The first models of this thoroughly eccentric weapon appeared on a Freelancer base in the Sigmas, bearing no clue as to their origin save a laser engraving of a rose on the outer casing -- rumor has it that they were even free of fingerprints. Current understandings of the ROSETHORN's inner workings are patchy, and barely sufficient to replicate the design.
