The first models of this thoroughly eccentric weapon appeared on a Freelancer base in the Sigmas, bearing no clue as to their origin save a laser engraving of a rose on the outer casing -- rumor has it that they were even free of fingerprints. Current understandings of the ROSETHORN's inner workings are patchy, and barely sufficient to replicate the design. The best recreations make use of experimental graviton-tachyon yatto-arrays which utterly fail to function when applied to other designs, and bear a nasty tendency to violently implode. While engineers pay well for intact copies, pilots operating in the deep outer rim of Sirius will pay even more.
