Getting started in Discovery

Welcome to Discovery Freelancer.

  • We are an online role-playing community that welcomes inexperienced role-players too.
  • Our story expands on the Freelancer universe, 33 years after the campaign (single player).

Useful links

The basics

  • Follow the online server rules at all times.
  • Follow your character's ID card guidelines (Hint: The ID card is in your equipment inventory).
  • Type (talk) like a pilot would to keep immersion for everyone (Hint: No pop culture references or smiley faces etc).
  • Other players may interact with you or engage you if you break the laws of different star systems within the game.

Roleplay

  • Some take it seriously. Some take it less seriously. Everyone is welcome.
  • Choose your role. For example:
    • Trader
    • Pirate
    • Military
    • Freelancer
  • Choose your faction. All single player factions exist + new ones to Discovery Freelancer.
  • Follow the guidelines for your faction in the faction ID you have equipped on your character.
  • Fly the correct ship & equipment for your faction. Incorrect combinations will have energy output penalties.

Factions

  • ID - A physical item in your inventory that you must choose and follow its guidelines.

  • Bribes - Visit a bar of a planet or base and you may find an NPC offering a favourable reputation bribe.
  • Player Faction Tag - Players of Discovery band together and may create their own name [TAG].
