In response to the increasing tensions between the Gas Miners Guild and Samura in the early 820s AS, the Guild realized that relying solely on the Karasu as an internally produced snubcraft platform was inadvisable due to the inextensibility of a relatively light space superiority fighter. To solve this, the T-493-VHF "Benzaiten" space superiority fighter was designed by the GMG's top spaceflight engineers at Niigata Star City and brought into production at Helgoland in Sigma-13.
Designed to be as versatile as it is stylish, the Benzaiten is a medium-weight combat craft intended to be equipped for roles ranging from front line fighter combat and interdiction to station defense and convoy escort. Its razors edge development and completely in-house production line from materials procurement to final polishing makes it both a formidable fighter to rival that of the houses and a sure mainstay for the GMG fleet for years to come.
