The Kouprey is one of the latest developments made by Gallic shipyards. Despite the solid performance of the Taureau for hauling materials, Gallia's recent conflicts showed the limitations of small transports for bulk deployment, be it of infrastructural materials or equipment. The design and construction of the Kouprey results from a cooperation between the Gallic Navy, eager to modernize its logistics fleet, and an ambitious EFL, seeking to complete its independence from armed forces contracting by safely diversifying company assets.
The Kouprey relies on significantly improved armor and firepower capabilities compared to its smaller, or more civilian, counterparts. Its impressive hold, ensconced within a reinforced space frame, with special attention given to defensive weapons systems, is built to greatly diminish the chance of piracy or destruction of the cargo itself within dangerous areas, not to mention increase the ship's overall survivability.
