An outcropping of the Edge Nebula, Kunashir is unique in that it conceals a planet within its foreboding depths: Kurile. Initially discovered by the Gas Miners Guild (GMG), it was abandoned due to its lack of useful resources and was later claimed by Samura. Samura initially engaged in a long-term research project to find commercial applications for Kurile's sole form of native life, which had already proven useful in Junyo's fish-farming operations. However, this plan fell apart when tensions between Samura and the GMG escalated, and the planet was subsequently conquered by the GMG. A strong Corsair presence continues to disrupt GMG efforts to further develop Kurile.

A large field of fine particulate matter. Atka Station, an outpost of Cryer Pharmaceuticals, was constructed here to study the varieties of organic life found in the nebula.

The wreck of the Robert Fitzgerald, a Cryer freighter that was attacked by Outcasts some weeks ago. It was hauling Alien Organisms to Atka for research purposes.
