Throughout the war against Kusari and later Gallia, Southampton Shipyard was always a vital manufacturing and production center of the Bretonian Armed Forces. The colossal structure was the birthplace of most of the Bretonian fleet. Its yards were organized around an enormous structure known as "The Bridge" -- an object of pride for Bretonia and a symbol of the brilliance, dedication and ingenuity of its people. That military significance made it the primary focus of Gallia's first forays into the New London system, and the reason for the subsequent redeployment of the York and her battlegroup to the station's vicinity.

Using lessons learned from Glasgow, LD-14 and Stokes, the Armed Forces took steps ensure that the station, only a stone's throw away from the capital, would not fall into the enemy's hands. As the blitz arrived, the Battleship York issued the demolition order. Several key structures - including The Bridge - were destroyed through controlled nuclear meltdowns of the station's reactors, stymieing Gallic hopes of occupying the facility as a forward repair yard. In the war's aftermath, the shipyard's twisted ruins were unceremoniously dumped in the Debris Field it once created.
