History

The International. One of the old Typhoon-class Destroyers of the Coalition. Deployed on the Corsair front, the International was one of the iconic Typhoons of the Sirius Coalition, and was soon deployed across Sirius. The International has since been to Liberty, the Taus, and of course Rheinland.

Despite its long list of accomplishments, the International met its fate in Omega-41. Ambushed by three Praefact-class cruisers, the International was heavily damaged, with a light-mortar shot destroying the bridge and killing Major Borodino, the current CO. The International would have fallen into the hands of the Corsairs had not Major Borodino, moments before the mortar hit, sent a distress beacon, which was picked up by the Red Hessian Army's cruisers Hessen and Von Rohe, as well as thier escorts. Speeding to the scene, the Vidar's escorts broke off and disrupted the Corsair cruisers, stopping thier attempt to flee with the wreck of the International. The Hessen and Von Rohe unleashed hell upon the cruisers, reducing one to scrap within a minute. Thier escorts, harassing the second, left the third open for the two Vidars to destroy. The third managed to escape to Omicron Gamma. Thinking it was over, the Hessen and Von Rohe began towing the wreck to safety. It was then the cruiser returned, accompanied by a massive Legate. Leaving the two Heimdall gunship escorts to drag the International, the Vidars turned back to make a stand.

The Legate unleashed a duel-missile strike at the crippled Typhoon. If the Corsairs could not have it, then neither could the Coalition. The Hessen and Von Rohe, unable to get there in time and busy fighting the Praefact, could only watch as the missiles closed in on the International and the Heimdalls.

That was when, sliding into the path of the missiles, was the CPW-Trotsky. With its shields taking the brunt of the blow, the Heimdalls escaped as, like a descending archangel, the mighty Havana roared in from above, unleashing its almighty fire upon the legate as bomber wings unleashed torpedoes. In a matter of minutes the Corsairs were obliterated, and the dying International was taken to Myoklaiv Research Station in Omega-52. Despite their speed and efforts, the International had gained too much damage and was taken apart, the remaining parts used to construct the next Typhoon.

It was recently, while looking over old records of victories, did General Aloysius Rhade come upon the story of the International. A new Trotsky-class one of the last, had been constructed recently and needed a name. Searching, he found both the Trotsky was still in service, and the ancient Lithuania had been reactivated. He decided to have this Trotsky-class christened International, to bring back what he believed as one of the Iconic ships of the Revolution, to again strike fear into the hearts of those who opposed the Red Dawn.
