The Thirteen, or Los Trece are the bodyguards and doubles of the Silver Reaver, also known as Santa Muerte in the Corsair Empire. Clad in blood red cloaks and hoods and using a silver mask, they confound any would be attackers as they blend Santa Muerte between them.
Twelve women, all ready to die for another.
Foundations
The Beginning
Los Trece began at the same time that the Silver Reaver was raised to the status of saint and became Santa Muerte, according to a prophecy in old Corsair religious texts. First as bodyguards and watchers of Santa Muerte, they were feared by their chilling silver masks and their apparent cold blood in killing whoever Silver ordered to. Due to several factors, they developed a hand language in order to speak quickly and without giving any clues to their heritage, that was used many times in front of strangers. Until this day, that hand language is considered to be unbreakable, due to the high speed they execute it.
The Present
The Silvers
Many months ago, Silver decided to take her security and power to a whole new level. She gave the former Corsair slaves, now free women that followed her, the power to act as Silver. Several surgeries and training so that could imitate Silver's accent, quirps and actions, these women can act as the woman they are so keen to protect.
Since then, all twelve and plus Silver, all look alike and act alike if the need occurs.
Operational Data
Versed in armed warfare and silent assassinations, any of these women can stand toe to toe against the common military marine. Their past as Corsair slaves also gave them an uncommon blood lust for the moment that life extinguish from the eyes of their foes. They are also known to operate in groups, using textbook shadow tactics to pursue and achieve their objective.
Their Mission
Their mission is to protect Silver at any cost. Even of their new found freedom. And that means to pursue Silver's goals. A balance between life and death. To that end, they continue to act in behalf of their saint, using whatever means they have to fuel that common goal between them.
Origins
All of them were former Corsair slaves that were given to Silver, not for bodyguard duty but for a watchdog like mission. At first, they only responded to the Brotherhood leader at that time, El Presidente. But the continuous actions of Silver gave them a new goal, a new objective they identified themselves with. Twelve women, from all the corners of Sirius, different in origin but together, following Silver into the maws of Hell if need be. Why the total of thirteen?
A very good question that Santa Muerte replied once. It involved an old corsair poker card that was a thirteen of spades. A token of one of her kills that she kept close to her heart and mind.
Faces and Shadows
Now, all Los Trece look alike the Silver Reaver. But between them, their personal history is known to eachother. Some say, even the personal history of the infamous Kalliste Silver. From one side rumours and information agents, some names were discovered. Erika and Anna were whispered in talks between them as they conducted operations within dangerous areas. So it is safe to say, while they maintain their objective of aiding Kalliste Silver to reach her goal, they have not lost their own personal past, due to the very insistence of the Silver Reaver, since she always said that one own's past is the key and scars in the future. Never forgive it, and never forget it.
