Vredes is a Red Hessian idealist, fighting to overthrow the corrupted Rheinland Government. He currently works for the Rot Front.
Early Life
Vredes-Friedrich Ivanovich von Hoffmann was born in the late 795 A.S. (exact date and place are unknown) . His ealiest childhood memories were from the Planet Stuttgart with the Hoffmann family, his adopters who were a poor provincial family with a boy of their own named Miles. He and his step brother worked whatever they could to feed their family. They have spent every minute of their free time at the space docks on the planet, dreaming to get a starship of their own and fly off from the misery that is the Stuttgart province. Although Vredes had some shocks caused by unknown reasons life went quietly for them.
The Disaster
It was in the year 809 A.S. , just a mounth before Vredes's 14th birthday, when they finally got the chance to leave Stuttgart and Rheinland in general. The whole family sold all their property and possessions to buy a ticket for a low-paid transport ship heading to Bretonia. It was there the first time the two step brothers stepped aboard a starship. The ship left Planet Stuttgart’s orbit and headed to the Omega systems. The “Disaster” ,as it was described by the Rheinland authorities, happened in the Omega-7 system when a squad of unidentified Rheinland ships appeared out of the nebula and started shooting at the transport ship with an unknown weapons technology. The life support systems started failing, several decks got decompressed and most of the few escape pods launched. It was in the last pod that the adopters pushed the two boys and saved their life. They ejected from the ship and watched the transport being blown to thousands and thousands of pieces. Eventually the unknown raiding parties started hunting the eject pods but failed to track all of them. Several pods survived and were later picked up by a freelance freighter. Vredes was 14 years old then and his step brother only 13.
New Life
The freelancer eventually shipped them to the Planet New Berlin . It was there that the two boys found out the meaning of the word ”Living Hell”. They worked from day to night with free time only to sleep 5 hours a day. The next 3 years were the worst of their life, but with the help of the credits they earned from doing additional dock jobs they finally saved enough money to purchase two ships, a Starblazer and a Griffin both class civilian fighters. So things went better from then on. They started doing some freelance escort missions, exploring ateroid fields and combat training when they had the time. Eventualy the saved enough credits for a one man journey to Bretonia. So Vredes send his… brother to the Queen’s Space telling him that in a year or less he will have enough money to make the journey himself. He kept contact with his brother for the next one year, who became a well paid crew member aboard an IMG transport.
Alone
The year ahead of him wasn't easy for him, living mainly from escort missions for the big Rheinland cooperatives and and mining for miserable fee for the Daumann. But even though, he managed to save enought money to take the long flight to his bother in Bretonia.
To Bretonia and the second contact
And it was in the year 813 A.S. when he launched from New Berlin’s docking grounds with Bretonia as a destination aboard a small freighter with some goods to trade in Bretonia. His flight went smoothly until he reached the ice nebula in Omega-3, when he was intercepted by a silent squad of Rheinland ships. He knew what will happen. The unknown party attacked him, he tried to fight back but it was useless against their advanced technology. Suddenly a patrol of 4 fighters, that identified themselves as the Red Hessians, started shooting at the unknown attackers. He used what he learned with his brother, in the asteroid fields and during his escort missions, but it wasnt enought to take the fight back at the advanced weapons they were using. Unfortunately Vredes’s freighter got seriously damaged and he had to eject. His escape pod was picked up by one of the Hessian fighters where he fell into another shock. When he woke up he was in a med center in an unfamiliar to him base.
Freelance Days
After a short interrogation those who called themselves the Red Hessians told him about the attackers. About that they are alien infected Rheinlanders that called themselves The Wild and that even after the Nomad War, even though not many of them, stayed on their government and military posts. And that the Rheinland government is corrupted by their political believes. They also told him about that his shocks were caused by his Hispanic blood and inherited Cardamine addiction. So he started working as a Blood Diamonds smuggler for the Hessians, freelancing and exploring for the next one year, living through his addicition with Pharmaceuticals. He lived mainly on Vogtland Base and with his brother back on Battleship Hood in the Dublin system, where he made some friends in the IMG.
Family ties
In 815 A.S. he received an encrypted message from an old woman, that presented herself as his grandmother, whitch said that he is too go to Planet Kyushu an so he did... absolutely incognito. He had a long speak with his grandmother she told him she was a Hispanic freelancer. She told him also that his mother was an Outcast pilot that choose the freelancer life too, instead of the pirate one, and that she died to an Ion Storm. And that his father was a Bundschuh pilot.
Back to Rheinland
After the meeting with his grandmother he wanted to learn more about his father and returned to Rheinland. His search wasn't long. Tt turned out that his father was a good ally and well known to the older Hessians and Rheinland revolutionaries. They told him that his father, Fredrich Ivanovich, was one of the advisors of the Ex-Rheinland Chancellor Niemann that later became a Bundschuh pilot, shocked by the ex-Chancellor’s… changed behavior and actions. Eventually captured and executed by the order of Niemann. And that he met and lived with his mother for several years in his father’s residence on Planet Stuttgart before he turned to the revolution forces.
Die Volkenkopf
"Die Volkenkopf" - RH-D1 Jormungand Red Hessian Battleship.
In 818 A.S. a new Technology was developed by the Red Hessians, the Jormungand Class Battleship. The Volkenkopf was one such ship and was comissioned in 818 A.S. and Vredes was assigned as a second in command of it. The ship Captain was a friend of his and that how he got to such position on the ship. For the one year when he was on the ship he learned a lot about fighting tactics, strategies and how to fly something as big as a battleship. Unfortunately just a year later a medium sized fleet of Rheinland Military ships entered Omega-11 and attacked buy a surprise Freital Base and the local Hessian forces. The Volkenkopf and a few other capital vessels were stationed around the base, but couldn’t react fast to the swift attack of the Military forces. There were several casualties on both sides including a few capital vessels. The first Military targets were the few battleships that the Hessians had. The Volkenkopf was the second in the line. At the time of the attack half of the crew including the Captain where in the living quarters. A few hostile missiles hit the unshielded hull of the ship, followed by a several Heavy Mortars directly into the ship’s engine room and the living quarters. Although the engine room survived, the living quarters were ripped from the Volkenkopf’s hull into open space. Only one third of the escape pods have launched but the other part of the unfortunate crew had died, including the ship's captain. Even though the Volkenkopf was heavily damaged the Red Hessians won the fight. After the battle, the Volkenkopf’s crew had to elect a new captain and they all voted for Vredes. In 819 A.S. Vredes was elected to the possition of the Volkenkopf's ship Captain. The ship has been heavily modified to the new Captain’s need since the event in at Freital Base in 818 A.S.

Die Rote Ausbund
"Die Rote Aubsbund" TTR-1130 Pilgrim Liner.
In 819 A.S. Vredes celebrated a victory against the Corsairs on Arranmore Base when he bet his Colossus transport on that he will win a 50 round race against Allan and George, 2 of his drunken Molly battle comrades. They went to Battleship Hood where his brother arranged the race in just 10 minutes. Vredes was given a Griffin Light Fighter, but he was going to race against George’s Arrow and Allan’s Hyena. So they stepped dead drunk on their ships and went to the nearby asteroid field where were the racing circles and eventually where the racing cource took part. It was almost on the moment when they arrived at the field when the announcer started the race. The first 20 rounds went well, no crashes but the Arrow pilot was way ahead of him. Unfortunately on the 37th round Allan, the Hyena pilot, got overconfident and tried to get ahead of Vredes and George, the Arrow pilot, but ended up crashing in the racing circles, where he was picked up instantly by the IMG rescue team. The remaining 2 pilots had only the thought of the other 13 rounds and the anxiety of getting sober with themselves. Just on the 47th round Vredes got ahead of his Molly comrade and kept that position for the next 3 rounds. They finished almost equal, but Vredes won with only a few meters. When they got back to the Battleship Hood, Allan was just fine and saluted Vredes and George for their amazing race. He made his part of the deal and transferred Vredes 3500 tons of Gold. George on the other hand had bet something bigger… a Pilgrim Liner. George didn’t want to give up on his good old Red Paragon, but he had to… it was a part of the deal. Vredes left the Dublin system with a Pilgrim Liner full of Gold, all that won from only a single race. He kept the name but only changed the language it was named with. The Rote Ausbund is currently assigned as a prison ship for mainly Corsair and Bounty Hunter pilots, and as a research ship for Wild pilot corpses.
Die Rote Saphir
"Die Rote Saphir" - E78-12 Spatial Civilian Deep Space Explorer. Decomissioned in the late 819 A.S.
Vredes’s main exploration and freelance vessel before he joined the Red Hessians. Decomissioned in the late 819 A.S. for spare parts for the outdated Rote Ausbund. He exchanged it for the transport he was trading with back in Rheinland. This old rusted Spatial has served him well since 814 A.S.. The present days he uses it to explore, keep a low profile and assist The Order. It had the best Sirius known equipment mounted aboard it. Vredes also used the Rote Saphir for contraband sales of Cigars, Wine and other unavailable, but mostly needed goods for various unlawful organizations.

Current Life
He became a member of the Red Hessian movement in 815 A.S. and after a few combat tests was allowed to fly an Odin VHF and later a Thor bomber. Since then Vredes still fights for the Hessians, their cause and ideals. He is a member of the Hessian movement known as Rot Front and spends his live mainly on his battleship the Volkenkopf or on Freital Base. He is known to cooperate with members of the SCRA. Since his adopters' deaths he is searching and fighting the Wild and Nomad species in any way. He was accepted as an under-covered agent in The Order and operates mainly in Rheinland. Vredes often contacts his brother, that became a captain of a Zoner medical cruiser, and visits his grandmother back on Planet Kyushu. He often uses his father’s name Friedrich in his own name. Dispite his cardamine addiction he recieves smuggled Pharmaceuticals from Liberty and lives though it.
Personality
Vredes is a calm person and thinks over his actions. Although he drinks a lot after a victory or when he celebrates with his comrades he would never step drunk on a ship if it is not really necessary. He is known to heat to communication channel during combat and to encourage his comrades when needed.
Property, Skills and Knowlage
He owns several ships including a Red Hessian Jormungand, called Volkenkopf, an Odin VHF, a Thor Bomber and several other fighters and bombers. He recently aquired a Pilgrim Liner acting mainly as a prison ship for Corsair pilots. He Speaks mainly English, Russian and German but has learned a little Spanish from his grandmother. Although he is not an ace in the fighter's cockpit, he is good in piloting bombercraft and in the command of the Volkenkopf.
