Blood Dragons as we see them

The world came to an end in the 321st year after the first planetfall in the Sirius sector. A group of dishonorable cutthroats, who called themselves the Samura Industries brought their cronies and money-bought soldiers against the Celestial Dragon. The fight was epic, but in the end the Dragon had to yield to the force of numbers. From the spilled blood, as the elders spin the tale, from the spilled blood as it hit the ground a new Dragon was born, a vengeful dragon, the Blood Dragon.

We retreated to a new nesting ground, but never forgot the corruptness, the pettiness, or our vow of revenge. For three hundred years the Blood Dragon came forward again and again to bite in the soft underbelly of Samura and their cronies. We came and died for the Hideyoshi dynasty.

In the 600s A.S. we found new allies. Corporations of the Kusari people came slowly to realize the evil that is the Samura and people, training and funding flowed to our nests. We joyed and fought even harder for their efforts. We rescued the descendants of the dynasty from their captors, and gnawed at the heart of the new corrupt regime. But it was not yet enough, and time was becoming our enemy fast.

The year 800 A.S. brought war to the whole of Sirius. A new enemy pounced upon the Sirius sector from the depht of space and drove the world mad. Ever the enemy of our people, the Rhineland fell to the sway of the aliens and flung itself against the people of Kusari. We found ourselves in the first line of a desperate battle we never wanted to fight, nor were prepared to do so. The fleets of the Blood Dragon scrambled and found themselves fighting hordes once again. Less than 500 years passed and a Dragon was bleeding for the good of the Kusari people again. We died by the dozen while we manouvered the enemy until they could be crushed by the people's might. But we were not erased.

We crawled back to our nests, the few of us who remained. We saved our people, but our victory was bittersweet. The Dragon lost many fangs, and not only did our people survive, so did our enemy. Rebuilding takes time, but we are nothing if not patient. Our men are slowly recovering, our fleet is rebuilding from its scraps with the help of our allies and benefactors.

The Background of Sentai 86

'Sentai 86 - Kesshi' is not the brains of the Blood Dragons. We are the brawn. We are the army of the Kusari Empire, that was forced into exile by the pretenders of the Shogunate.

At the heights of our power the Blood Dragon army consisted of numerous battle groups, squadrons. Sentai 86 was one of the many. The name derives from the year 686 A.S. during the 8O years' war, when a group of Kusari naval vessels, poorly lead and cut off by Rhineland warships defected to our cause. Building upon the core of those defectors and strengthened by Blood Dragons proper, Sentai 86 proved over the years their dedication and boneheaded resolve to overcome, earning the nickname Kesshi (do-or-die) for themselves.

In the wake of the great battle in 800 A.S. the Blood Dragon army lay gutted by the infected Rhineland armada. The danger to our beloved Kusari is now, however past, and we have began the arduous task of rebuilding ourselves. From the salvage of the past, with the help of friends new and old, our sentais come slowly back to life.

Our ships were paid for by our anonymous benefactors within the Kusari state, some of them almost certainly business rivals of Samura Industries, others merely wealthy sympathizers. As long as they let us continue our fight, it matters little. The asteroids concealing our bases provide us with raw materials aplenty and Mito shipyard is pulling double shifts. For spare parts and maintenance, though, we are dependent on our allies and the wrecks of our old fleet in Sigma-13. It is funny how both our funding and our spare parts draw us to this crammed system. We have to tread lightly. Upsetting GMG or the Junkers could both end ruinous to the cause.

Goals (in order of importance)

Underlying goal: Restore the Hideyoshi dynasty as rightful rulers of the Kusari Empire.

1/ Survive: Protect the Blood Dragon home systems of Chugoku and Tau-63 from outside aggressors. In the name of vigilance, monitor traffic in these systems.

2/ Weaken the Shogunate: Disrupt the Kusari war economy by attacking trade shipments to and from Kusari space.

3/ Destroy Samura Industries and their thugs wherever they may be found.

4/ Rebuild: Collect "donations" for the benefit of the Blood Dragon cause.

Zone of interest
[Image: ZoI-S86.jpg]

Our Zone of interest includes the Blood Dragon home system of Chugoku, the Guard system of Tau-63, and Tohoku (for the BD listening post), Nagano and Kumamoto (as an alternate venue of attack on Honshu), the core systems of the Kusari Empire, Hokkaido, Sigma-13, and Sigma-17 (to harass Samura operations there).

- Blood Dragon
- Red Catamaran
- Dragon Gunboat
- Dragon Cruiser
In rare cases:

Diplomatic Relations

Basic principle: hostile to supporters of the Shogunate, but also hostile to those who'd do harm to the Kusari people

Friendlies:
Blood Dragon [BD] NovaPG
-----for being brothers in the service of the Emperor's bloodline
Golden Chrysantemum [GC] /CS/
-----for opposing the Shogunate
Outcasts [RoS] [SOB] [1O1st]
-----allience of convenience and necessity. They provide funds, equipment and support and we provide them with a safe harbour and assistance when needed

Hostiles:
Samura
-----for being a bunch of money grubbing traitors to the Empire. None shall survive.
Kusari Naval Forces [KNF]
-----for defending the Shogunate
Kusari State Police KSP
-----for defending the Shogunate
Hogosha [|]
-----for being thugs of Samura and the Shogunate
Farmers Alliance [AFA]
-----for being Samura's puppets
Bounty Hunters S/D
-----for targeting us
Corsairs [+] Benitez [OPG] [HAF]
-----for supporting Hogosha through their artifact trade

Other special relations:
GMG (our under the table benefactors in return for our hostility towards Samura. A win-win situation)
BAF (they fight the Shogunate, thus are useful as long as they don't threaten the Emperor's people)
Junkers (they possess the remnants of our destroyed fleets in Sigma-13, that we need for our fleet, thus angering them is very undesireable)

All other factions are neutral until proven to aid the Shogunate or threaten the people of Kusari in some way.

Supposed in-game activity:

We hold and monitor Chugoku, turning back traders who are on a mission to trade with the the section of the Kusari Empire under the Shogun's control, which regrettably is pretty much all of it. We are not pirates, so we don't accept bribes in return for rights of passage. The enemy must not receive those supplies.

We sally forth out of Chugoku on strikes against the Shogun's military when opportunity presents itself. Escape pods are to be carefully collected and retrieved in hope of honorably exchanging them for our unfortunate bretheren.

When necessary we embark on missions to the Rhineland-Kusari trade route to collect "donations" from the gaijin traders interfereing in the Kusari Empire's affairs. They should have known better than supplying our enemies. Still, these missions are far from honorable, and we take them but reluctantly when our hands are forced.

We recognize NovaPG as the leaders of the Blood Dragons and strive to follow their guidance.

Miscellaneous note:

Many have asked for more info on Sentai-86 in-game, thus we have deemed it prudent to put forth the above description even before we are fully prepared to petition for official status. We hope this will be taken as a gesture of good will and respect as it was meant to be.

Edited 21/02/2009 to upload a remade ZoI map instead of Ash's apparently flawed one.
Edited 23/02/2009 to add Blood Dragons to the Diplomatic Relations section, membership list also updated.
Edited 24/02/2009 to correct ZoI map hopefully for the last time.
First off, I would question if we really need another Blood Dragon faction doing everything. Might be nice to have a group that is, say, more militaristic, and participates in strikes against the Samura-backed government, attacking traders as a secondary target.

Secondly, ZoI. Tottori, you may find to be a little hard to enter, as it is the Hogosha guard system...Tau-65 is the GC guard system, I doubt they would look kindly on repeated incursions. Sigma-19...what?!? How/Why would you ever go there? Also, Sigma-13, best not to stick around in there, maybe only pursue traders there from Kusari. You're neutral to GMG yet friendly to Outcasts, but GMG is gonna be shooting Outcasts, which could result in a sticky diplomatic situation.

Weapon-wise, I'd suggest you stick with Dragon only, along with debs. Kusari weaponry is made by Samura and Kishiro, your enemies, and Blood Dragons are a highly elitist faction (as all Kusari factions are...), and would have little inclination to use anyone else's weapons. The exception, of course, being capship turrets, which should be Outcast or (possibly more appropriately) Zoner.
Thank you for the speedy reply, Derkylos.

Your first concern did crop up among us as well. However, during the more than one month we've been hanging around the Blood Dragons I have not seen even one of Hideyoshi's Guard, and NovaPG are rare as well. None of them have currently active recruitment threads I saw, either. So there really wasn't much alternative among the BD. In fact we chose BD precisely because it is an underutilized faction. Chugoku used to be oorp-trader central, which I personally detest. (hence one of our goals being the "defense of Chugoku")

We also agree on your preference for a "more militaristic" group. You might notice I emphasized that pirating traders is "far from honorable, and we [do it only] when our hands are forced". Pirating is not what we mean to be about, and it will be discouraged, but outright forbidding it would not, I believe, make much sense.

Your second concern, I fear is due to my own lazyness. I assumed the map was correct due to it being in the only discussion about BD ZoI I could find on the forums. I think we haven't gone deeper into Kusari than New Tokyo, and even there only once. Naturally, the Hogosha guard system would not be part of our patrol routes. Sigma-13, on the other hand is of considerable interest to us, even given the muddy political situation, due to the debrise field, where we suppose the remnants of the Nomad war Blood Dragon fleet are to be found. It would be a part cemetary, part war memorial, part supply source for us, not to mention a good opportunity for RP.
Thank you for pointing out the error in the map. It will be corrected.

Third, I acknowledge as valuable input. As I've said we are not yet ready to make a bid for official. Equipment regulation is one of the areas that need work.
I've seen Shinigami in-game. Otherwise, haven't seen much of you, however, you can count Freelancer Alexis.Almira as a friend, due to her admiration of the GC and the fact that Shinigami really helped me out against some Corsairs in Sigma 13 a bit ago.

But yeah, this all looks good. Seems like you did your homework on FL canon, especially since quite a few people think the 80-year war was a recent thing:lol:
Well, the background is pretty well written.

Regarding ZoI though, it would make more sense to have Sigma-17 in as opposed to Sigma-19, to hit Samura's operations on Kurile. Dragons would need to go to Sigma-13 for obtaining supplies from Junkers.

Now, based on ingame RP I've done with you, you guys are pretty good at what you do. Better then a lot of the BD indies we've dealt with. I wouldn't say no to another Dragon faction. The HG merged with the NovaPG a while ago, the NPG are somewhat inactive, and I don't know what happened to the [BD] faction. Assuming you guys can get organised, and maintain that organisation and RP well in doing so, you'd probably compliment the established factions well.

Also, as for diplomacy, \CS\ isn't part of the GC. The Consortium is a completely seperate entity. We use GC IFF and ID as they are our closest allies, with the Dragons a close second. The Dragons would probably be one of the few factions that knows this. Just a reminder for future RPness.

The word 'RPness' dosen't sound right when pronounced...
First, above all, Konnichiwa!

Second, thanks for the nice words. We will work hard on our organisation, it's not the best, i guess, yet.
It's my first post, so shouldn't be long.
As i guessed before, Shinigami is our best knowned member, cause the thirst for "do" credo of him. :D
The others not moved out so harshly from Chogoku, but we had escort him many times, as a squad.
We have a lot to do ingame first, but Skipper and sometimes, me as well, will be here and answer questions, aand arrange some diplomatic matters too.

The Emperor shall prevail!

Arrigato for the posts!
I think the NovaPG's inactivity can be explained by the KNF's inactivity, no sane person logs on to kill power traders all day, and when the KNF isnt there to fight either the GC or the BD (and if they did, they'd be outnumbered horribly), then you get kind of inactive, I guess?

perhaps this will change in 4,85, and much fun will be had all around, should KNF's inactive membership survive and they can match the 3 (or 4?) BD factions and the 2 GC factions numbers, oh and BAF privateers plus you know, doing that invasion thing they're supposidly winning. (I doubt they can even match kusari pirates -BAF privateers, honestly).

I dont want to see such enthusiastic people such as yourselves go bored and leave altogether. You see, BAF is so huge we're going to close recruitment (something like 70 members on the roster?), and the faction that is invading us has nowhere near those numbers. Because of this, I figure it would make more sense that you make another KNF faction to give all parties something to fight, but who am I to force my opinion on others?
' Wrote:I think the NovaPG's inactivity can be explained by the KNF's inactivity, no sane person logs on to kill power traders all day, and when the KNF isnt there to fight either the GC or the BD (and if they did, they'd be outnumbered horribly),

Exactly, no sane person logs on to fight swarms of Red Cats with pvpwhoring loadouts.

Which reminds me why I'm posting here:

1. "Allied guns with moderation" - so infernos and krakens yes or no? (from what I have seen it's yes)

2. Adv. Debilitator turrets - how are you getting hold of them? As no unlawful or neutral base them in sirius sells them
I'd just like to clear something up.

2 missiles, 2 Debs, nuclear mine on constant fire, Mini-Razor, and Supernova would constitute a pvp whore setup for the bomber right? Right. That was a KNF-tagged Kusari Bomber, not a Redcat. Please don't criticize someone by accusing them of what you do yourself. Furthermore, just because someone flies a Redcat doesn't mean they are pvp whoring. We have to use a bomber when capships show up or when masses of Dia-Nio traders come through Chug-Hokk. For my part I'm using 4 codenames, CD, and Supernova.. Definitely not made for killing fighters or pvp whoring. This you should know, because one out of the three times you fought me when I was using my GC was in a BD HF, not a Redcat. The other two, one time was fighting Kusari capships (Battleship to be exact) which requires a bomber, and the 2nd I was pirating traders in Kyushu when you and another KNF showed up. Don't accuse everyone of pvp whoring a Redcat simply because they own one unless you want people to accuse you of the same thing. Not that we need more evidence to it.

Now about Sentai, I've not had too much contact with them, but there are a few issues that worry me. First is that we now have way too many Blood Dragon factions than we should. Even if KNF were active, this is too many BD factions. Second was two days ago, I found a Sentai BD Gunboat in a group with three people.. One in a Viper MkII, one with a Stinger (sold on a Samura base..), and the last was a Kusari 'Big Dragon' Transport, which is sold on a Kusari State Police base.. There are a few problems with that.. Lastly is that every Sentai I've seen is flying either a Redcat or Gunboat. Now while Redcats are necessary at times, such as trader interdiction or killing a capital ship, you could throw in some BD HFs to even it out a bit. Not every ship in a five-man group out pirating needs to be a bomber.. 2 bombers and 3 fighters would be a bit better yes? The Redcat is a very good ship.. Too good, same as the Kusari Catamaran. Its broken and should be used when needed, not at all times.
You just supernova'd a idle marsflyer with only two items mounted, a zoner id and a scanner. no shield, nothing else mounted so others can be aware it's a non cannon rp character. but you counted to 3 and instakilled it within a minute of interaction. kudos to you, glad i noticed this feedback thread. kudos once again for i see your future as a faction will be bright.
