Liberty Security Force
Location
B-7, Inverness

CLASS: Interdictor

CREW: CLASSIFIED

ARMAMENT: CLASSIFIED

A veteran member of a Liberty Security Force escort group, the Tuscaloosa was constructed in 805 A.S. at Juneau Shipyard following the re-build of the Liberty fleet in the aftermath of the Nomad war. Initially hurriedly reassigned to lock down a portion of the Ontario system prior to it being abandoned by Liberty, and owed in no small part to the fact that the place had quickly become the most dangerous backwater across the Colonies, the battlecruiser spent several decades constituting the Liberty peacekeeper force in the system. With Ontario's abandonment by Liberty forces however, the Tuscaloosa returned home. She was re-fitted at Norfolk, awaiting a new assignment.

Following an alarming warning about a new alien spike in the western independent worlds, the Tuscaloosa was reassigned to watch over and monitor suspicious activity in Inverness, including the criminals using the system as a save haven, and LSF's ideological enemies - the Technocracy. Its new position resides inside the West Avlemore Nebula, reinforced by the joint CR effort in order to gain a foothold in the system and deal with the largest alien threat Liberty has had to face since the Nomad war.

[834 AS] Nomad presence confirmed in Inverness

TUSCALOOSA -- 834 -- Contact has been made with Nomad entities, confirming our suspicions that Inverness is the epicenter of the infestation. Excelsus squadron was forced to retreat from the East Avlemore Nebula after taking heavy casualties from cruiser-class Nomad lifeforms. This is the first time Nomads of that size have been detected in the Independent Worlds, marking a radical shift in doctrine. Additionally, the ambush was executed using Jump Drive technology. This is the first time such capabilities have been observed, and the timing of this development cannot be ignored. A report has been made, briefing the President on the possibility of Kusari’s subversion by the Nomads; countermeasure proposals are being drawn up for approval.

[834 AS] Anomaly detected in Ontario

CHESAPEAKE -- 834 -- Spy satellites in Ontario have detected a hyperspace pulse matching the signature of Earhart structures and The Blackout. Before the sensors burnt out, data was relayed indicating the transmission source was Planet Sudbury. Due to the potential implications of an uncontained Earhart site, and the presence of numerous hostile entities locally, it is vital that the LSF gains access to the system and secures any Artifacts or anomalies immediately. An Ageira and DSE taskforce has already been assembled to determine the best course for re-establishing a jump link using abandoned Gate infrastructure. Once a solution has been agreed, the Battlecruiser Lehigh will be provisioned for the trip from California and dispatched to secure a safe zone for emergency works.

[834 AS] Kusari ambitions threaten Liberty interests

CHESAPEAKE -- 834 AS -- For several years, LSF informants have reported increased activity around Kansai Research Station in Honshu, amid speculation of a major technological breakthrough. A source embedded deep within Kishiro Technologies has obtained reports implying the existence of a functional Jump Drive prototype. A commercially viable Jump Drive is antithetical to Liberty’s strategic commercial interests, as well as posing a severe military threat. Significant resources have been allocated to verifying these reports, and establishing what countermeasures -- if any -- are presently available to the deployment of this technology. It is expected that Kusari’s internal dissidents will be equally concerned by this development upon becoming aware.

[833 AS] Liberty draws down forces in Crayter territory

YUMA -- 833 -- Liberty has announced the end of the Battlecruiser Yellowstone’s tour of Coronado, where it has spent several years targeting drug smugglers in the dangerous Barrier Pass. President Hawthorne has reportedly lost patience with indefinite foreign deployments of Liberty forces, and ordered the ship to be withdrawn to bolster domestic piracy and smuggling suppression in California. A Department of Defense spokesman stated, “we have for many years provided the Crayter Republic with the training and material support needed to police their territory. We have faith they will be up to the task”. The Yellowstone’s withdrawal comes as Deep Space Engineering deepens its own investments in Coronado, with the expansion of the Scottsdale Refinery.

[832 AS] A Different Kind of Heat

HOUSTON -- 832 AS -- A horrifyingly large scale firefight broke out in one of Houston's major city centers - Marlton, hundreds upon hundreds of arrests have been made and dozens of brave officers lost their lives in the vicious attack. The attack itself seems to have specifically targeted the city's dedicated police station, resulting in significant amounts of private property damage. The attack appears to have been highly coordinated, reliant on insider information, and carried out by contractors or former professionals, with one LPI spokesperson going so far as to say that this must have been a bought and paid for terrorist attack. Many of the perpetrators of the attack were killed by officers on scene, or by the Naval Emergency Response Team that responded to scattered reports of small arms fire. The LPI has currently released no statement about the progress of the investigation.

[832 AS] Counting Doses

ROCHESTER -- 832 AS -- The catastrophic crash of the Cardamine market has been tough for all the associates involved in the chain of its distribution, and the substantial drop-off in the quantity of it available for use and resale has caused a new problem in this series of bad episodes. The Rogues and Hackers, former partners in feeding the needs of the underworld are now at each other's throats, unable to meet demands for the drug both by their own and by customers, it seems as if stealing it from each other at gunpoint is the new business model.

Rumors

Liberty Security Force
  • I can see why Eska's being called a visionary, the damn Outcasts are paying us in order to enjoy what this place has to offer. They've looked down on us for what feels like an era, and I won't lie in saying that it feels good to return the favor for once. We've earned this, and we might as well enjoy it.

  • You one of us? No? Well you should be, because if you put in the right amount of elbow grease the boss will let you stay here and keep the taps flowing for you on the house. It's a sweet deal, but if you do decide to take it, don't screw up. Oh, and don't use me as some kind of reference on whatever resume you're working with. Got problems enough dealing with the Hackers and the Outcasts.

Crayter Republic
  • The upstart Rogue who lords over this resort charges all my people a tithe. He thinks himself above us, in time he will be reminded that there is no height you can ascend to that you cannot also fall from. And when he does, we will be here - waiting.

  • This place pales in comparison to Malta, but as far as rest stops are concerned, it is the finest available to us on the long journey to Buffalo base. Eska, the Rogue in charge of the place keeps his men on a tight leash as well, so long as he is flattered appropriately and paid his dues when asked. Still, this resort could stand to be more than just a den of self indulgence, if it were guided by a firm hand like ours.
