Half gunship, half ramming frigate, the Inquisitor represents a unique divergence from conventional ship design. The central features of this rugged vessel are its unmistakable ramming blade and attached breaching module; its combat capability beyond that is almost an afterthought. While it lacks almost all the grace of its closest counterpart, the Defiant-class gunboat, the Inquisitor compensates with its robust construction, remarkable ease of maintenance, and easily modified design. Its seven turrets offer the ship withering forward firepower, designed to quickly overwhelm an adversary's shields before moving in for a boarding manoeuvre.
Under Legion and Insurgency command, its molybdenum-titanium blade was expressly designed to scythe straight through the outer layers of a capital ship's hull, sealing the breach in the same motion with quick-acting metal foam nozzles and allowing its complement of onboard marines to board in short order. Since making their way onto Liberty's decentralised black market, however, individual Inquisitors have been repurposed as their new parent organisations see fit, and the class now sees more general use as a conventional gunship for those groups unable to afford or source a more specialised craft for their needs.
