    Asteroid Fields

    Tau-31 Ice Crystal Field

A vast field of water ice with some oxygen ice pockets, the Tau-31 field lies in the heart of the Barrier. The Planetform terraforming project is the most notable activity in the system, along with the Holman outpost, a key supply depot for the IMG and its operations further afield in Tau-23. Numerous wrecks litter the system, remnants from the recent battles fought between Bretonia, Kusari and Gallia.

    Harris Minefield

The minefield around Planet Harris was first laid in 812 AS, in the prelude to the Tau War between Bretonia and Kusari. Bretonia deployed the concealed mines over fears of an attack by the Kusari forces massing in Tau-29. They were used to great effect early in the conflict to break up formations of Kusari capital ships for ambush.

While the Bretonian use of concealed mines was widely criticized abroad as a breach of the Boorman Treaty, they contributed greatly to Harris remaining in Bretonian hands throughout the Tau War, and for several years of the Gallic Invasion. As of 829 AS, efforts began to clear the minefield of unexploded ordnance, however this is extremely slow going and dangerous work.
