Being my work at the Council of Zoners is at a momentary slow point, I took some time in my personal Raven's Talon, recently stripped down and retrofitted for exploration again, I was speeding through Berlin to reach Dresden, meet some old friends out in the Omega systems and bend their arms to rekindle the fire of exploring the lawless sectors of space again.
Imagine my suprise when I meet a large group of Coalition pilots, some grunting and grumbling at a Zoner's presence, others greeting me like a friend oddly enough and not minding a lengthy chat with a curious pilot. We traded ideals about government, some history and finally I asked how their ships handled if they had any good vodka to share. Wasn't too long a Rheinland patrol keys in on the chatter and homes in like a well-placed Firestalker missile on an engine trail.
Needless to say, the meeting of the two minds was more of a headbutt. I reeled my ship out a modest distance and started my camera feed, salvaged a few highlights of the battle, then pulled away before the true end of this fight. Though here's a sample of the chaos that it was, the jumble of transponders and strain it was to keep track of anything more than massive explosions.
Now, don't quote me if you're listening to this, but I'd bank on it being nearly 2:1 odds stacked against the Coalition, and for some durations of battle, it stood as two Coalition pilots being chased by upwards of six Rheinlanders. It was quite the inspiring sight, even so much as I recall quoting a little poetry here and there in a half-awe stricken state at the bravery and talents that overwhelmed pilots exhibited. Indeed, a rare quality not seen so often in any one man these years, even so far as I turned my ship to see a Rheinland capital ship closing in, and being intercepted by a lone Coalition bomber. Crazy, brave, and skill rolled into one dangerous exchange as the pilot planted several clean hits, never lowering the cruiser's shields, but buying the two pilots not far from my location time to sort themselves. In the end, the surviving Coalition pilots retreated, and it was over after I departed. So the final tally to me is a mystery.
A decisive victory to Rheinland in the end, with a show of force to overwhelm an enemy they obviously see as extremely dangerous, needing so many pilots to match their few. That is just speculation from a passing Zoner on his way to chart border systems and edge worlds. Though I have to testify to the daring, mettle and resolve shown by these Coalition pilots. Truely pilots I would never wish to lock horns with.
That said, Izii Helfari signing off.
/Closing wide communication.
(OOC::Kudos to both sides, that was a spectacular dogfight, haven't seen a good one where both sides walked away giving congrats to each other for talent. Keep it up.)
My honest reaction upon reading the forums, whenever I rarely do. Joe Kucan, he's the man.
