Today something interesting happened. Shortly after I woke up, something both strange occurred. Or more accurately, I had been awake for hours, on my bed in my room aboard the research station, unable to sleep. About 5 minutes after getting out of bed and getting dressed, the stations proximity alarms went off. 'Oh boy. More pirates', was the first thing that went through my head.
Suddenly there was a beep from my computer. As I walked over, I wondered what was going on. I checked the message. The stations owner, Jim Rowle, 'wanted me in the control room 60 seconds ago'. I ran to the elevator and rode to the 4th floor. The doors opened with a faint puff of rushing air. On the opposite side of the room, was a large window. In front of that, Sat an upside-down U shaped shelf, covered with dozens of monitors, some displaying views from cameras outside the complex, while some displayed multiple projects within the research complex. Others showed nearly still images of hallways, presumably security cameras. I noticed that one of the station surface cameras showed about 13 Eagles surrounding something. From where I was it appeared to be a blob of blue. I walked over to Rowle a bit slowly, I was still wondering what in Sam Hill was going on.
"What's wrong? What's going on?" I asked as soon as I arrived at the main control station. Jim looked like he was thinking and like he had a severe headache at the same time. He looked at me and gestured to the screen. The dozen or so ships were on screen. "Do you see what is in the middle of our fighters?" he asked. I looked harder at the screen. I gasped. "Oh god a nomad out here?." I looked at Jim's face. "Why haven't you destroyed it yet?" I shouted. He looked at me and sighed. "Well?" I demanded. He took a deep breath then said "Because this one's different."
I laughed at that statement. "OK seriously. Whats going on?" I questioned. "I don't ever recall seeing a lone nomad near a human establishment." he replied. "It's like he's just watching us or something." "So what? Hes a threat. Blow the damn thing up and get it over with." I said under my breath. He looked at me and said something I wasnt expecting, "This one is different. I don't think it can attack us. Scans indicate that the tips of the 'wings' of the nomad 'ship' that generate lasers are..well...destroyed. Gone. Not there. I am going to attempt to capture this nomad."
I looked at him like he was an idiot. "Oh yea? What are we going to capture it in? How are we going to contain it? How do you know if we even can even handle that thing without getting infected?" He was silent for a moment. Then looked at me and replied, "The only way we know that we can possibly safely interact with it is with a safe amount of shielding. Perhaps that a Repair Ship could provide?" "So what are we going to do? Contain it in open space?" This idea sounded quite stupid to me. "No. We are going to try to use this nomad to try to understand other nomads and they think."
((OOC: Sorry if this seems a little raw but I was never good with my imagination"))

Well that wasn't a surprise. As soon as we had moved in to capture it, the Nomad ran like hell. However, a nomad showed up again about a little over an hour later. Scans indicate that this is the same nomad. We tried again, and once again it flew away and escaped. Jim has decided to ignore the nomad and start studying it.
He even gave the damn thing a name. He named it Eye, because all it seems to do is sit and watch ships, transports, and debris fly by. We are all going to hell for this.

It was good thing that the nomad was always hanging around. There was an attempted Xeno raid yesterday. Fortunately, it was 3 to 1. They went down like popping balloons. About 3 hours or so later, The nomad returned. He, or she, or it, came into contact with a extremely damaged Scorpion gun that the clean up crew had missed.
As soon as it touched the nomad ship, a blueish purple beam extended from the tip of one of the partially damaged wing/arms. The arm appeared to pull the weapon to the tip and stayed there, although it was at a very odd angle. At that point it started glowing. Upon scanning, it appeared to be attempting to operate the damaged weapon.
After we discovered this, an idea entered our head. This nomad was a great opportunity to learn more about nomads. Unfortunately, If it was attacked by a group of people, it didn't stand a chance. We gathered 3 Nomad Blasters that had been 'liberated' from infested Rhienland pilots that we had been studying. By making some minor adjustments, we were able to activate/deactivate the weapon, via an encrypted signal that could be sent from bases, battleships, and even small fighters. We were going to attempt to give the nomad back what it lost, and see what it did with it.

We didn't have to wait long for the unique nomad to show up again. This time however, the gun that the nomad had 'equipped' was missing. We sent out one of Jim's ace pilots out with our test equipment, the modified Nomad Blasters. Using the front of a ship like people on Earth used to 'Bowl', we launched one of our blasters at the nomad. The nomad appeared to see the objects floating slowly toward it, and right before it collided with the nomad, another beam appeared, just like that one last time. This time it appeared to be emitted from the tip of the nomad 'ship'. Using that beam, the nomad maneuvered the weapon to its left arm.
As soon as it touched the tip, it appeared to solidify in place. The scanners read running power through the weapon, exactly the same way The Wild used their weapons. Interesting.
After launching the remaining two at the nomad, they both moved to the remaining arms. The end result looked...interesting to say the least. Three brownish human-esqu weapons attached to a ghostly blue..ghost.
Next came the possibly dangerous part. We cleared the area and put the station on code yellow: Possible Danger. Using the stations communications hardware, we then activated the Blasters.
A new contact appeared on the station radar. [???] - Eye.
Part of our plan had been to put tracking devices into the test guns. Apparently it had worked. Next was the hard part. As soon as the nomad appeared on our radar, things changed. The glow from within the nomad grew slightly brighter, and the ship wiggled around. The nomad appeared...happy? Can that even be possible? Suddenly, the control room's speakers were filled with static, which lasted about 2 and a half seconds. Its source was...the nomad. Now if only we could communicate with it... Perhaps we can teach it...
