"Well, only my mother is from Liberty. My father, and the rest of his family, is from Malta."
It was strange to actually talk about that topic, she did not really like it to talk about her family. People would only get curious and she would have to explain everything. Avoiding Lewis' question was rude, that was why Natalie decided against it, she hoped that both Lewis and Hartman could keep things to themselves.
"It's funny, I only recently found out that I have a family on Malta. It would be cool if you two could keep that to yourselves, I hate it if things like that spread around and people talk about me."
"Interesting...your secret is safe with us, Nat. I am not a fan of waving the past about in any case..."
Lewis knew that Natalie was not comfortable with answering such a question. The fact that she did answer spoke volumes of how much headway the two of them had made in breaking her chilly exterior. Perhaps she'd melt yet. That would be as satisfying as a grueling mission, maybe more.
"Past has a way of catching up to you when the present is most demanding though." Lewis says almost absently.
She smiled a bit, but that quickly changed to a cold unemotional facial expression, she even kept her gaze away from Lewis and focused on random objects far away from their location. "But the past remains a secret...even for myself." Natalie then shook her head. "Don't be silly, Nat. You'll never find out anyway." One could easily see that something was bothering Natalie. "I'm wasting my time with those two..."
Lewis looks over at Cahoone. She is looking absently in a direction away from him and Hartman. The most common form of expression when one has something they don't want to discuss. Lewis did not feel comfortable enough discussing this with Natalie just yet though...Progress had to be made slowly. Maybe he'd get a handle on how Cahoone operated yet. Until then, he'd just wait and see.
"It was good to chat with you both. I'll see you later."
He waves and walks away slowly. It is the last time Lewis and Cahoone see each other before...an accident happens.
