' Wrote:Cleaned up the Transports page and creted sub-classes for Civilian Transports, Commercial Transports, Battle Transports, Liners, and Specials (barge). Moved the Liners mini-page into Transports and created a redirect.
Cleaned up the text on the Freighters page and the Fighters page, need to revisit to double check. Moved the 2 repair ships to specials in the Frieghters.
Added Zapp's nomad LSC to the capital ship specials.
Cleaned up the Shields page, added some descriptive text (need to edit) and split the shields table by type. Created redirects for all the ship-specific types (ex "Gunboat Shields").
Created redirects for ship-specific Turret classes (ex "Gunboat Turrets"). So now you can reference them by function instead of class, and if the classes change again you just change the redirect page
Changed the "Weapons" column heading to "Guns/<br>Turrets" which forces the heading to split into two lines and uses less width.
Will visit Bombers, Gunboats and Capital Ships tomorrow. I will split bombers into regular and super heavy. I want to split Capital Ships into Cruisers and Battleships, but not really sure what to do with the current Capital Ships page.
The Frieghters page needs the Turning Speed numbers added. All the other classes have this data so I assume its an oversight. Looks like a lot of math so I will leave it alone and hope that whoever has the converter can fill in the holes.
So you put the Pirate Train under Commercial Transports. GG. You've also arbitrarily put the Battletransports under a category of their despite the fact that they are only called that by players, not inRP, and rules-wise they are no different from any other transport. This is somewhat inconsistent. Grouping ships according to rules which may only apply on our server is generally frowned on, unless it is non-intrusive (see: references to tech chart cells). With the new layout, you are forcing users to group lists by a cargo size limit. This prevents you from listing ships in terms of cargo size (largest to smallest in a single list), or group by faction, etc - which is the whole point of having such a detailed list page!
There is no such thing as a Civilian Transport. There are transports crewed by civilians, yes, but all transports are manufactured by corporations. Therefore, all transports are both commercial if they are being used for trading, and they are civilian if they are not being used for military purposes. See the issue here? It's like the old Gunboats & Gunships page; the separation of the two categories was completely useless.
All in all, it's usually more appreciated to consult with the other Wiki editors before making drastic changes...
