Doc could only give a snicker.
"I'll be sure to let the chef know how much you like his cooking," he commented, "I don't know that someone has ever loved the cooking so much that they wanted to forget business."
He then took a bite of his own food. Yes, it was very good.....better than usual. He nodded, "I guess they have indeed improved the menu. Now I know why they take customer feedback surveys and are serious about it. You're right, this is very good."
Doc found his mind more involved with dinner and his date than in business. Music, good food and good company masked one's loneliness and regret as to how he had gotten himself there in the first place.
Of course, the more he ate, the more he would drink. Naturally, good food enabled greater imbibement as another round of drinks arrived.
The crowd of the cafe was growing as shifts were ending and staff just wanted a place to relax. Others took time to provide entertainment to include a "Who's On First" skit.
Quietly, he savored the fact that his guest was enjoying herself. He just went with the flow rather than force issues. In due time, business matters would come....but who was worrying?
