Disco game server can't barely hold 50 players without crashing costantly, so leaving on the side the laws and right manegement stuff, even if it picked interest from a lot people on Steam, most people wouldn't even be able to login as it is now.
On the true topic of this thread, this game seems to have a free demo on their Kickstarter page, gonna check it later today and see how it looks like.

Yeah but we also dont pay for disco so they don't have a real budget for hosting our server. We probably could have a more stable set up, it all depends on who hosts the server and what is payed for. We probably could up the quality but it would cost us. People would have to make regular donations. I'd be willing to do that if some others would, and we knew what kind of increase we were getting.
I wonder if Underspace is just being done or if they have permission. If not it would be like doing an FL mod and charging for access on steam ?. I suppose it might qualify as a very similar rip off.
Underspace certainly looks interesting, but I'm very unsure what to expect from it.
Judging from the pictures and a video I've seen sometime ago, it appears to me that the game doesn't take itself seriously. I see a lot of elements that look out of place, like the floating dragon, the green and red arrows and I think the video showed a pair of WINDMILLS IN SPACE. It might be there because it's merely a placeholder, maybe it's a very cheap way to use existing assets, or it's the humour of the game developer. Whatever it is, it doesn't look right for me personally.
Nonetheless, as a big fan of Freelancer I will have to take a proper look at it when it's released.
It is a product of a guy who made /V/Lancer and if I connect some dots correctly, also some Morrowind steampunk themed mods. It rips off from Disco, has politically incorrect humor (oh, humanity) and isn't ashamed one bit. It even has hats.
