I like that forward gun. That is something I have fantasized using, long back from Vanilla (along with other goodies like Valkyrie and nomad ships). It is better to keep something as a token of remembrance from the past? I don't think it is highly uncapable of doing anything worthwhile. When fitted and used properly, it might be of greater use than the LABC, which is, very hard to move than the LSC, and cannot get too close to big ships.
If you want to buff LSC, [LN] should do some large scale roleplay for making it more powerfull (two more guns and better power core is my idea), I am thinking about some sort of faction-wide SRP. Making it inRP would be fine. My own experience is: QQing is not the right way. No offense towards you.

did this happen for any other ship that got buffed or nerfed

It is excellent versus snubs and gunboats, if one knows how to TS and razor properly. I remember getting wreck by a lone LSC with a full party of Xenos
Fact, that LSC is usefull against snubs and GB is showing that this ship require a rebalance.
Still, it's not bad RP opportunity, to replace LSC and create something like Lancer-class frigate from Star Wars Here. In fact, it's going to be LSC without FWG but with few additional turrets, and a bit more armor. All flight characteristicks should remain same.
But if it's to remain Siedge cruiser, then buff is needed.

Yeah right, why is the Liberty SIEGE cruiser good against snubs and GBs instead of heavier ships and bases?
Right, it got 2 turrets ripped off of it and upscaled, but for what reason?
If you're nerfing it because the LABC is too good as is (it's alright, not too great for anti cruiser due to it's slow turn rate), then you're only giving people more reason to ignore the LSC and just use something else.
In it's tiny little niche, the FG anti-turtle cruiser category shared with only the BD cruiser (which has medium core and wasn't upscaled), there are ships ranging from the cupholder to the dread that fufill this role better. Bombers are smaller and more agile, allowing the bomber to stay in the fight longer (a rheinland cruiser can stick on an LSC and just use basics to kill it because it has the same amount of basics as the LSC has turrets), the Liberty gunboat in packs is good against snubs and even lesser skilled battleships, the LABC can double the anti-battleship damage output without breaking a sweat and run triple missiles to kill snubs unlike the LSC which can only fire one at a time, has room and core to fire four razors while still having battleship primaries that can kill a BS with sustained fire, all at the cost of turn rate. Cruisers like the RMC and the Scylla can turn circles around the LABC, not to mention outspeed it. The dread is the dread, nothing much to say about it other than it's a bigger Osiris, and of course the turtle sized Osiris armed LAC isn't even relevant.
I only really have one question now.
Why?
Having 7 turrets now over 9 doesn't help at all when confronted by bombers, gunboats, or other cruisers, all of which can hit it easier and kill it faster because it was upscaled while retaining light armor and core. The FG is a carbon copy of the Light Mortar which it can fire twice before running out of core, the projectile is iconic and cool but large and easy to dodge. Other cruisers like the Scylla and the Rheinland Cruiser, not to mention the LABC, can fire 2 light mortars and do it again in rapid sucession.
Forcing the LSC even further into it's niche, which is already populated by the dread and the LABC, will only make it even more useless.
