Your contribution to the success of yesterday's operation is greatly appreciated. I frankly was not completely certain whether the Alliance would stay true to their word, or whether they would turn on us. I am glad our operative was able to rely on you to be by his side.
Sender: Cassandra Hayes Recipient: Hawkins, Unto Nightfall Location: Bristol Bay Station, Bering Subject: K1Z008 - REPORT
Hawkins,
It's been a while. As you well know, I was not in favor of your decision to.. resort to bloodshed. As such, I requested a temporary transfer during the lull in anomaly activity in Kepler. Recently, I have resumed activities in Liberty. Though I've had a run-in with one or two Section 8 operatives, who may or may not have informed you of my return - here I am, reporting in myself.
Now, onto a different subject. Although Section 8 and, by extension, the Order as a whole, are on working terms with most of Liberty's law enforcement branches as of late; there's one organization that has continued to give me trouble: the Liberty Security Force. I'd expect your own pilots to have reported similar issues. Today, I have potentially made a breakthrough of sorts - by accident.
A chronological report:
In Texas, on a routine patrol, I bumped into a compromised Outcast pilot: Cipriano Adimari. I, of course, engaged the pilot, and successfully took them out. Towards the end of combat, an LSF Operative going by the callsign Tewhatewha closed in. Immediately after taking out Adimari, I was asked by the LSF to vacate the area. Of course, I did so. My ship was, after all, in no shape to fight, nor was I looking to take a fight with the Security Force to begin with.
Shortly afterwards, I decided to head back to the scene of my fight to do a scanner sweep for life-signs. En-route in New York, I unfortunately bumped into a less-than-cooperative LPI officer. They urged me to leave Liberty. I managed to coerce them to let me fly back towards Texas, and Beaumont Base, where I'd run into the Wild pilot. Upon arrival in Texas, I once again bumped into Tewhatewha. They accompanied myself and the police officer to Beaumont, where I performed a - rather unsuccessful - scanner sweep. While doing so, Tewhatewha convinced the LPI officer that the LSF was in control of the situation, and urged them to return to their patrols. This then allowed the two of us to have a private conversation. Audio logs attached to this communique. Have a look.
In short: this particular Agent is willing to work with - rather than against us. Maybe it's a shift in policy that applies to the LSF as a whole, maybe - probably - not. Regardless, it's progress, if you ask me. I've forwarded their request to be allowed to operate in the Omicrons to Overwatch - that's their area, after all. Did figure I should also inform Section 8, though.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: That thing earlier, was it an alien?
Empress: It was. Which is why we're here.
Irene.Sandros: The Texas scrap fields aren't as dangerous as the Badlands but I'd rather not go through them either.
Empress: Need to check for lifesigns.
Irene.Sandros: Aliens?
Empress: Holding for a moment.
Irene.Sandros: Seriously?
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Don't worry about it.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Illegal aliens. Mention that in your report.
Irene.Sandros: Bit above my paygrade, this. Can't you just be-
Irene.Sandros: Of course. Thank you, agent.
Irene.Sandros: Figured it'd be, uh, classified?
Empress: Not picking up much more than scattered debris.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: If you don't feel comfortable, I can take it from here.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: In fact, let me take it from here.
Irene.Sandros: I'm supposed to be escorting the entity out of Liberty's borders.
Empress: Either of you running a higher-end scanner suite than the Empress? Tall order, but you never know.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: You'll be fine.
Empress: Traces of plasma weapon discharges. Debris. Nothing more.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: You've done your job, I can take it from here.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Nothing bad on your end in the aftermath.
Irene.Sandros: If I don't take scans of them vacating the area I'm going to be thrown down an escalator.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Was it a straggler, or is this a reoccuring instance?
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: I'll give you the scans.
Empress: Heard reports of a Nomad lifeform couple days ago. This one wasn't outright Nomad-
Empress: At least, not in the.. commonly understood sense of the word.
Empress: An Outcast. Known infectee in our database.
Empress: Been around.
Irene.Sandros: Not sure if they'll accept scans not coming from my ship. LSF got extra clearance or something?
Empress: You really asking that?
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: There are few enough of them for you to know?
Empress: They're the LSF.
Irene.Sandros: ...True enough.
Irene.Sandros: Good luck. I'll be resuming my patrol.
Empress: No. The list isn't comprehensive.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Thank you, Irene.
Irene.Sandros: Thank you for your assistance, agent.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Anytime.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Hmm.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Don't really find them out here that much.
Empress: Good. Keep it that way.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Word about this alien came from the locals?
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Or maybe someone else you could share?
Empress: I get tipped off once in a while.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: How much longer do you plan on staying?
Empress: As long as it takes.
Empress: You aware of the Kepler situation? I'm sure the LSF's not managed to overlook it entirely.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Aware, yes.
Empress: So. We'll be around as long as that situation remains.. Unresolved.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Don't get caught lurking. I can't cover you in every situation. Especially if more locals like that cop find you.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: And for the love of god take the junker's hospitality, not some terrorist's.
Empress: Fair enough.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Think you could keep me in the loop?
Empress: Happily. If it keeps the LSF off my back.
Empress: You got some strings you can pull?
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Maybe show some leniency next time I end up in the Omicrons.
Empress: Tried tracing an Auxo ship couple days ago. Got myself ambushed by some of your pilots.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Yea I'm not like the collective.
Empress: So it seems.
Empress: Anyhow. I can't speak for the Overwatch. I can put in a good word.
Empress: They're not the easiest to convince, though.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: I have to do my job as much as you have to do yours.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: A word is good enough for me, better than nothing.
Empress: I'll give it my best shot. If I do get anything done, though, don't count on the offer-
Empress: extending to your organization as a whole.
Empress: That'd be up to superiors to decide, I reckon.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Let me worry about that.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: The goals align here, mostly.
Empress: Glad we finally got that message across.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: I'm not explicitly after aliens.
Empress: And I'm not here to tell you how to run your House. Not my concern.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Then I'll count on you to be a part of my little "network" and vice versa.
Empress: Sure thing. Keep you paged.
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: Now, please - don't get caught.
Empress: No guarantees. Gotta work with the locals. Only got one pair of eyes myself.
Empress: Try my best, though
=LSF=Tewhatewha.: And send me some footage in Bering.
Empress: Uh-huh. Keep that cop off your back.
Your concerns about employing lethal force against enemies of humanity was noted at the time.
I am glad to hear that you and your wingman Devaraja are again active in Liberty. Seeing as Section 8 operations in the region have been scaled back considerably due to unforeseen developments elsewhere, it is reassuring to know that observation of Liberty remains in capable hands.
As for this LSF agent: It would be prudent not to put too much stock in their words. Remain wary, remain vigilant. Cooperate only if you are certain you can acquire a valuable advantage by doing so.
Your unit will be on its own in Liberty for the foreseeable future, unless Overwatch or other regular units expand operations. Good luck.
