And the same people who ruined the drone for the AI playerbase now want to ruin the Arbeiter. I've flown both for years.
Why do we have to be victimised by you people? Let's face it - there's a reason why the factions the Conn elite gravitate to (Outcasts and Hessians) have broken equipment, better-than-average equipment combos, permissive tech usage - they get stuff that belongs to their tribe buffed up the wazoo and screw anybody who doesn't share their way of thinking.
The fact is that wraith vs arbeiter is not a balanced matchup. 5 guns vs 8 guns is not and will not be balanced. It's not subject to opinion, it's a fact. Just like the AI drone was completely busted- and if the nerf on it ruined it for you, there's all the more reason to think you're intentionally abusing it.

Except the AI drone was stupidly broken. However. It shouldn't have been rendered utterly useless, especially when the AI ID's can't really use any other tech.

And the Arbeiter should have the only thing that separates it from being objectively bad removed because the best people on the server, who don't even log the ship for anything other than testing, can use it to its max potential?
Again, if you're bad, and you fly in a wraith, you will do better than if you're bad and in an Arbeiter.

AI IDs can use the Gammu AI technology, and civilian/BW technology. I have an Eagle with Gammu AI ID, AI guns, debbs and rest some other stuff. And it works at 100%.

But easy enough to Light Mortar or Cruiser Razor. This is all I can say.
Dunc crying about #conspiracies aside, why exactly is the Unioner's standard-issue fighter an 8-gun gimmick ship? Why don't they have a standard 6-gun VHF like almost every other faction?
If the developers wanted to mess around with 8-gun VHFs, surely the Avenger or Titan or something would be a better choice. Both of those have lighter alternatives in the Guardian and Centurion, respectively, and don't shoehorn an entire NPC faction into using a ship with such polarised good points and bad points.

That's a good point.
The reason was, that the Arbeiter was considered to be very bad and the Unioners a generally under-loved NPC faction at the time - lacking any unique rep, RP, lore, ZOI (except Texas), standing in the shadow of other groups (Hessians) without any driving purpose. It even had an awful infocard that looked as if zero thought had gone into it. There was a reason why Unioner player factions were extremely rare, or short lived. By comparison, most duel-VHF factions were doing well (by virtue of being major, well-loved groups).
The upgrade to the Arbeiter was an attempt to change that - make the Unioners Rheinland's LR. Lots of damage, but not the best group fighter that feels a bit heavy to throw around and looks big. It also had the virtue of being the only Unioner ship in existence, yet it was unremarkable. It had to do something different.
Making it simply like a bigger, faster-turning eagle would mean people would use the eagle from familiarity. It had to be balanced towards a different end of the spectrum - so firepower got buffed. It is in no way as powerful as the AI drone once was - it cannot scrap battleships by itself. It's not like those cannons can be sustained all firing at once.
If you cut the guns down, it becomes a bad ship again - and no, it's not the best ship. I prefer to fight people with the Marlin, even in duels.
