History:

• Before the Lance: Alessan was born as the son of Aurelio Contari and a prostitute (whom Aurelio has refused to identify). His father believed that women could not effectively raise children, so he lacked any women of importance in his childhood. The boy spent the first ten years of his life in a position of relatively low importance, being the heir of a very minor branch of the Contari family, so he was left alone for almost all of his free time to develop independently. He was put through a decent education system, and he excelled for the first few years of his schooling.
  
  
  However, by age 12, he'd all but given up on his education, and had begun dedicating his life towards the various things that interested him, independently studying literature and music. He began developing close ties with his cousin, Elaria Contari, though she often treated him condescendingly and she surpassed him in most things they took interest in. Though he often felt jealous of his more skilled cousin, he rarely attempted to better himself or compete with her. He was content, to a degree, with the status of their relationship.
  
  
  When Aurelio took over the Contari family, he began the process of having Alessan groomed and trained for his position. For the next several years, his contact with Elaria was almost non-existent, as was his free time. Whenever he did have free time, he’d spend it seeking a woman of comfort. Aurelio, though enraged by Alessan’s new pastime, did nothing. He chose to chalk the reason up to his own failure, keeping Alessan from his mother, and he decided that Alessan had reached an age where little could be done to fix his problem.

• After the Lance: After Aurelio decided that Alessan was successfully prepared to succeed him, he put Alessan in charge of the Contari Lance, deciding that the only things he had left to learn should be learned through experience. Alessan’s first move as Comandante of the Lance was to put his once valued friend Elaria, in an equal position of power.
  
  
  Currently, he commands the Lance harshly, often resorting to torture when something goes wrong or when someone decides to anger him, though he doesn’t enjoy it, he feels he must follow in Aurelio’s footsteps to be a competent leader. When he’s off duty, he’s most often found at a brothel, namely the Vizio, continuing his noble pursuit, .

• Before the Lance: Rosa rarely reveals details about her early life, save for that fact that she grew up on Malta. As far as she is concerned that's all anybody needs to know and those that persist in their curiosities often regret finding themselves on the wrong side of her volatile temper.
  
  
  Prior to joining the Contari Lance she spent much of her time raiding trade convoys and blasting Corsairs alongside her partner in crime Feruccio Fratto. Eventually the two of them joined Marcello Castro’s Knight Errant; a small group of maltese pilots feeling disillusioned with the current Malta leadership. Despite their grand ambitions the Errant were never more than a ragtag group of scoundrels and vagabonds spreading violence throughout the Taus and Kusari. After the disappearance of Castro the group lost what little organization it had ever had and gradually they went their separate ways.
  
  Feeling the need for some direction in her life Rosa joined up with the Lance as a hired gun, anticipating the new opportunities for violence and robbery that she would inevitably be able to take advantage of.

• After the Lance: Never much of a social creature Rosa has mostly avoided contact with her new comrades outside of group operations, preferring instead to spend her time alone. Despite this seclusion she remains an effective part the group as brutal combatant with a complete lack of fear in the face of overwhelming odds. It is abundantly clear to any observer that she holds her own life and the lives of others in low regard and risks proving a liability in dire situations.

• Early life: Lucrezia was born to Chiara and Antonio Acerbo, owners of a small cardamine plantation, the pride of the small family. It was decided by her parents that Lucrezia would not go to any school and instead would be taught by private teachers. According to her parents, this would be the best option for their daughter. As a result, the young girl spent nearly her entire time at home and was basically isolated from the society. Not even her parents had enough time to spend sufficient time with her, which was the result of the cardamine plantation, as they had to deal with most business related issues on their own. It was a hard childhood for Lucrezia, but it would surely prepare her properly for her future life.
  
  
  However, an unexpected and shocking event occurred in August 799 and this event would change Lucrezia’s future forever. A small group of slaves, 6 people to be precise, were extremely unhappy with their life on the plantation and searched for a way to show this to the Acerbo family, who were their oppressors after all. In the night of 19 August, they set large parts of the plantation on fire. The flames quickly gained strength and spread throughout the whole area, they also reached the house in which Lucrezia lived together with her family. Lucrezia, 9 years old at that time, woke up after she had heard countless voices from the outside. It did not take long for the girl to notice that it was living hell outside, and that the house had already caught fire.
  
  She immediately left her room and began to search for her parents, even though she knew that it would be better to leave the house before it would collapse as a result from the fire. But she was simply too afraid of losing her parents, the only people in her life who were important for her. It was a shock for her when she reached the hallway that led to her parents’ room, it was covered in flames, which made it impossible for her to reach the room. In that moment, Lucrezia was not even sure if her parents were still alive, but even worse, that feeling sort of paralyzed her and she did not move, even though her life was threatened by the flames, which came closer with every second passed. She only survived that day because she was saved by the housemaid, who dragged her out of the house just few minutes before it collapsed. Lucrezia’s parents did not survive this night, and it also meant the end of Lucrezia’s current life. The life that would now follow, was more hostile and filled with sadness and agony.

• Life after the tragedy: She had lost everything in her life, her existence, and most importantly, her parents. It was decided that her uncle, Cristian Acerbo, would take care of her from now on. He had seen her only once in his life before, and that was shortly after her birth. The reason for this is simple: an argument between him and his brother, Lucrezia’s now deceased father. However, he did not hesitate for a second to accept his niece at his home. All he could do was to give her solace.
  
  
  But this proved itself to be an impossible task. Lucrezia changed a lot. She did not say a single word since that tragic accident, and did not show any emotions either. It seemed like she was a lifeless shell that had no purpose left in this world. It was sort of depressing for Cristian to see his niece like this, but he could somehow understand why Lucrezia behaved that way, but it also gave him hope. He would try everything to make life bearable again for her.
  
  Lucrezia was sent to school for the first time in her life, and it seemed to have a positive effect on her. She smiled from time to time, but still remained mute. It worried her teachers of course, and they suggested Cristian to send Lucrezia to a psychologist. The uncle, however, did not agree with their suggestion, as he believed that it would only make it worse for Lucrezia.
  
  It took nine long years for Lucrezia to finally speak again, and it came as a huge surprise for her uncle, after all, it was the first time for him to hear his niece’s voice. It was a simple “Thank you”, followed by a brief smile. It still happened rarely that she actually said something, but Lucrezia no longer seemed like a lifeless shell.
  
  Two years later, shortly after ther 20th birthday, she decided to leave her home in order to begin her own life. She decided to become a pilot, as she did not want to be bound to Planet Malta. Luckily, her uncle had some friends who had served in the Maltese Navy for a long time, and they agreed to train Lucrezia. However, it was not clear what the reasons for her decision were, and she never answered this question when she was being asked about it.
  
  It was not her goal to protect Malta from its enemies, it more seemed that it was her only wish to destroy other people’s lives. Lucrezia became a formidable fighter pilot, and that in a relatively short time. Once her training was complete, Lucrezia began to hunt targets in the Taus, mainly Malta’s enemies, but sometimes also people that were not hostile but somehow managed to anger her. She turned into a ruthless killer, who never showed mercy to her targets. It did not take long before people paid her to kill, but it seemed that money never played a big role in Lucrezia’s life, it more looked like it was just a little extra, nothing more, nothing less.

• Lucrezia’s life today: After years of flying alone, Lucrezia joined the Contari Lance. Her reasons for doing so, remain unknown, however. She did not change much during these years, she is still sort of mute and only talks when it is absolutely necessary. As a result of that, it is nearly impossible to get her into a proper conversation, and if that succeeds, it is obvious that she does not feel very comofortable about it and immediately tries to escape from it. It is obvious that she is still suffering from the tragic events of her past, but these events are a well-guarded secret, and hardly anybody besides her uncle and Lucrezia know about it.
  
  
  She knows everything about her ship, its weaknesses, its strenghts, and uses this knowledge to become a dangerous opponent for everybody who is hostile to Malta. However, it does not look like she is hating anybody. Her enemies are simply the same like her allies, with the exception that Lucrezia will not shoot at the latter.

• Before the Lance: The Atomic Degree was made specially for Lance Biggs in 764AS, being designed to be stationed in deep space for long periods of time. Under the command of Biggs, the Atomic Degree only saw combat two times, and did not have dedicated defense systems. Biggs stationed the ship in many Omicron systems, doing research, recon, and rescue.
  
  
  In early 820 AS, the Atomic Degree came under attack from Corsairs in the Omicron Eta system when he refused to hand over the ship. During the battle, the ship was badly damaged. However, a Contari Lance patrol found the scene, and eradicated the Corsairs. The Lance escorted the Zoner back to Freeport 10. While there, Biggs exclaimed how he wanted to retire, and the Lance made the offer to buy the Corvo

• After the Lance: When the Degree was purchased from Biggs, Rina was put in command, as it was her credits used. The ship was then renamed to the MNS Achaea. The external components of the Corvo were repaired at Valetta Shipyard, but the Lance could not repair the damaged software. Rina decided that the ship would not be fit for combat, and modified it as a personal home.
  
  
  To protect a smuggling run through Sigma 19, Rina was in command of the Achaea to protect the Trieste. Halfway through the system, the convoy came across a TAZ pilot. After a few words were exchanged, Rina asked if there was a software upgrade for the Corvo. The TAZ pilot obliged, sending a fix for the internal systems. The Achaea immediately flew better, and was later modified for combat.

Spending much of his time in the marketplaces, studying, training, and of course the wooing of many a bella donna, he matured into quite the Florentine gentleman. However, his father's untimely death revealed that most of their holdings were falsehoods or debt-ridden, soon reclaimed by those with a stake. Retreating to her own family with his younger siblings, Renato's mother lived a much poorer life in shame. However, Renato himself used the relationships and skills to his benefit, maintaining much of his old lifestyle as well as taking to space to find work.

• After the Lance: Among his employers were more powerful Maltese familia, including what rose to become the Contari holdings as they are now. A couple of years' work with them meant that a fine villa in the growing compound was offered to Renato along with the rank of Cavaliere. Following that, he has proven himself a skilled warrior and trustworthy addition to the Lance for an 'outsider' and earned a position in the inner circle as a Familiare. • Early Years and Family History
  

From a young age, Luke was exposed to many stories of the goods and cash that was taken from the Sirian transport convoys. His parents were both pirates and were very good at what they did. Long term service in the Outcast ranks and always asked to lead high profile runs against the most prominent mining guilds and commerce groups in Sirius, it was exhausting but paid well and gave Luke a healthy lifestyle as a result.

Luke aspired to be like them and his brother who was 12 years older than him did sometimes join his parents if the targets weren't so high profile. Some may have called this "bad parenting" but they lived by the simple belief that, in order to carry on the Orsini reputation, their successors needed the know-how. He dreamed of flying alongside when he was young and told them every day. In the meantime, he went to a normal school and did well from a young age. He was also incredibly socially active with many friends of both genders and was quite popular among the girls who didn't really understand the whole idea of screwing up a traders day (nor would many at such an age) but respected him for having a dream to carry on his family's footsteps.

• The Disaster
  

One day, his parents got too gutsy, they were told of a rich convoy in the Colorado System which, though it took a lot of thought, they decided to try for. The last words Luke heard from them were "When we get back, we're moving somewhere even more beautiful than here"...Luke doesn't know exactly what happened to them but he's been told too many times that simply "Liberty were ready for them". His brother went missing the same day but those who survived the incident told Luke that he wasn't there in the first place.

• The Years that followed...
  

Luke was 13 when his family never returned. He was alone. He had one lifeline and that was access to his parents safe as part of their will. Fortunes were stowed away. He took what he could and traveled hundreds of miles (with the help of family friends) to learn how to fly. By the time he reached 16, he was a qualified pilot and had money to spare to buy himself a decent ship. Using maps, third-party knowledge and word of mouth he was able to explore several sections of Sirius, learning constantly in the process and honing his fighting skills. The Outcasts knew his name and helped him along the way and though many of them are now retired or M.I.A, support motivates him to this day. However, to current day his fighting skills are affected by his emotions, the horror of fighting and seeing people die, reminds him of his parents and it regularly clouds his judgement. He's learning to control it slowly but it may still take time.

• The Lance
  

Not so long ago, Luke entered the Tau-23 System and noticed a member of the Lance having a problem with the IMG, a common problem as of recent. The Lance member appeared to be the victor after his enemy cowardly escaped into Java Station. After a short conversation and a long chase through another Tau System with a member of "The Order" on the run, the member of the Lance who turned out to be the Commander of the faction (Alessan Contari), offered Luke a place in their ranks. It was exactly what Luke had been hoping for. Now it wasn't just vengeance, it was a chance to become as skilled as his parents once were.

• Before the Lance: Arrigo, a brave man. He was born on Malta, growing up like a usual Outcast child. He liked to go on adventures, explore new things and so on. When he was in Kusari, he met Keni Hashinato, a Blood Dragon. Keni is a experienced pilot and he trained Arrigo, all that Arrigo knows. Arrigos first bought ship was a Sabre Very Heavy FIghter. He later didn't fly it any longer. While in Kusari, he saw a GC, being engaged by the Kusari Police. She was outnumbered, and Arrigo decided to assist. Arrigo and the GC pilot took the Police out, and left them in pods. The GC pilot name was Terija Yomaguchi. She gave Arrigo her " Orchid " Light Bomber in return for the help. Even though it was beat and dented, Arrigo took it for repairs. When Arrigo arrived back to Alpha, he went to fix the Bomber so he can fly it. After couple days, the Bomber was repaired. One day in Tau 23, he was patroling and saw the Contari Lance fighting and decided to assist them. Then he recruited for the Contari Lance, and now is a Fantarie.

Mycella and Kantor were married for several years, with Mycella handling supply lines for Kantor’s smuggling operations.
  
  When Mansel was four, his parents moved their operations to Planet Malta. Mansel was a bright student and took quickly to his studies. In the womb, Mansel developed his cardamine addiction from his mother, who was a full Maltese and a heavy user during pregnancy. To fight of bouts of whithdrawl while young, and genuinely unaware of the genetic tie Maltese have to cardamine, Alcantra’s mother doubled Mansel’s usage in the belief that his mixed lineage would somehow disrupt the genetic morphing process from long-term use. Mansel ultimately adopted this heavy usage when he came of age.
  
  At 31, he completed a doctorate in philosophy and a lesser degree in astrophysics. One of his professors, Rodrigo Cuervas, came from a family tracing their academic and scientific work back to Edmundo Razgriz’s “Spectre” project. Though the “Spectres” had long become the “Ghosts” by that that time, Cuervas, recognizing Mansel’s growing and vocal passion for the Nacion, suggested that he seek membership as an alternative to becoming another mere academic. Mansel considered the suggestion but chose to help his father develop his shipping and smuggling business.
  
  Soon, however, he applied to the Ghosts to assist in their requisitioning operations. During training, Mansel’s admiration of the Maltese people became a personal religion. He legally changed his name from “Kantor” to “Alcantra,” taking his mother’s pure Maltese name for his own. His emotional, if not physical, dependence on cardamine increased through periodic, forced ritual usage. Though his body could cope easily with the withdrawl in typical doses, as he aged, his overuse made his symptoms particularly damaging. He retained his childhood habit of inhaling times almost twice as much cardamine per day as his comrades to keep withdrawal at bay and slowly increased the dosage between the age of 35 and 40.
  
  Over time, the Ghosts focused their efforts on purely military operations. Since the Council took to revealing the Outcasts’ largest threat as a people, Mansel is heavily active in Bretonia, based out of Cape Wrath - to monitor the Armed Forces and their struggle with the Gallic Royal Navy Gallic in hopes that it will allow the Ghosts to prepare for the inevitable conflict. After several years at his station, his service became increasingly unnecessary.
  
  A Maltese first and foremost, Mansel approached the Contari Lance leadership to offer his expertise in smuggling in addition to the expansive trade connections he developed while serving his father. In a truly graceful and generous act, the Lance accepted his proposal.

• After Joining the Lance: Mansel has great compassion for his comrades by blood, yet his ego is tinged with a slightly manufactured sense of superiority and naiveté most likely driven by a undeniable sense of inferiority brought about by his mixed birth. His personality is more suited to diplomacy and face-to-face confrontation than battle and bloodshed, but he does not shy from the latter.
  
  In service the the Lance and La Nación, Mansel focuses his efforts at expanding the distribution of cardamine, maintaining and surveying existing trade and supply networks throughout the sector, and ensuring that Malta is properly provisioned for war and peace alike. He has also answers the Lance's call for military service when needed without question.
