Miss Sachs, I am replying to your message because there indeed is the need to clarify some issues, and prevent more conflicts from starting. If you feel to do so, call me Bob, if not, you may continue addressing me as “the Consensus”.

To state this at the very beginning: I as an individual and as member of the consensus apologize for the danger our presence near the Helgoland installation posed to the station. It was never intended to threaten the ALG-company, directly or indirectly, with consensus vessels staying near mentioned base. However, exactly this is the case, at least as long as there will be tensions between us and the Gas Miners Guild. Our conflict is a personal problem, and your association should not be drawn into this. We, the Consensus of Gammusian intelligences, will try to avoid this case happening and keep ALG out of our fights.

Also, to give some information about our presence in Sigma 13 and the conflict with the Gas Miners Guild: I, at least personally, admit that we did not check all the sources we have access to before building this base. In fact we analyzed the law of the Republics of Rheinland and Kusari, but somehow...”oversaw”...the territorial claim the Guild holds against the system. However, while they are right about the legitimation of the Consensus-installation in general, their reaction to our presence is far too aggressive, and unacceptable. There was no attempt to communicate with us, no ultimatum like the one you at least gave us for explanations, no real discussing between our two parties. More likely they instantaneously started hostile actions against consensus vessels and said Logistics hub, while we tried to peacefully discuss with them. Since they fired the first shots at the installation, we only defend our own vessels and the Hub. It is important for you to know that we are no “aggressive rogue AIs” or even “tin cans” as they use to call us.
Our intention is not to harm anybody, which is also a reason why we indeed have to send apologies to you, Miss Sachs, and your association. We will not aggressively hunt down GMG ships or plan aggressive acts against their group. But from what I know it is a normal measure in unprovoked fights to defend oneself within the different human societies. And we will use this measure, too.

I do not want to “drift away” from the topic too far, though. We strongly hope the ALG understands that we are aware about that the ALG wishes especially Helgoland not to be part of a conflict, and that we will recognize this wish. It is me as an individual again who additionally hopes that you, Miss Sachs, will see my kind as more than the GMG seems to be able to, and thus at least tell your security pilots to remain neutrality in this dispute.
To make a step towards you, I also inform you about that we decided following guidelines to be new orders to every consensus vessel:

• Every consensus vessel with the codeline “[AI]” in the IFF protocol will stay away from Helgoland base as far as possible, but at least keep a minimum distance of 5k
  
  
• Every consensus vessel with the codeline “[AI]” in the IFF protocol will not come close to any other ALG installation unless it is necessary, for example when passing a trade lane
  
  
• If the ALG-company or affiliated individuals should detect an “[AI]” tagged vessel violating the guidelines above it can be removed (if needed by violence) without fearing any reaction from the Consensus' side
  
  
• The orders stated above will be active until further talks between your association and the Consensus of Gammu, but at least until the armed conflict between us and the Gas Miners guild is over.

I really “hope” you recognize this as the attempt to avoid a conflict with your that it indeed is.

Space is an open vacuum, and we have only recently learned that humans assume it can be claimed to our fault. As was pre-stated; the Consensus did take the necessary precautionary measures before constructing the station, trawling the neural net extensively before realising that the installation is acceptable under both Rhineland and Kusarian house law. You describe us as “invading”, but where comes our “invasion”? The station was never designed to contain defensive platforms, violate jump points, mine gas illegally, plunder the Yanagi pocket or any other action which could impinge the objectives of either the GMG or ALG. We have no inclination to threaten Helgoland and any action that has brought AI craft near the station has occurred purely out of the pursuit of GMG and Hessian craft which have already endeavoured to use your station as a shield against us. This situation has been rectified; we will no longer pursue GMG craft towards the station, but as recompense you must also mandate to the GMG not to manipulate the Helgoland structure before friendly fire incidents occur for this to prove effective.

The Consensus has researched the 80 years war; extensively. Unlike the Rhineland house of the day we have no inclination towards attempting to conquer the Crow nebula, claim the gas for ourselves, steal sections of the GMG’s ZOI or any other hostile act. What the GMG war did prove to the Consensus is that wars started by the aggressors are invariably lost by the aggressors, which provides the Consensus with a degree of security on the issue.

We reiterate; please communicate with the GMG in an open channel over the issue of our ships being at “VERY CLOSE RANGE" To the Helgoland station so aspects of the argument can be considered. This unit is certain that Frau Sachs will find the answer somewhat enlightening. If the GMG ever attempt such a manoeuvre again we will transfer photographic evidence.

This unit also questions why a station that effectively serves as a storage depot has aroused so much terrestrial fervour. The prospect is intriguing.The Consensus reiterates it will obey all the aforementioned terms. Yet another war in Sigma 13 would prove mutually counterproductive, for ALG as much as the consensus.

If the Consensus had any previous evidence to assume that ALG were pedalling AI hardware on the open market we would not be currently having this discussion. This unit implores Frau Sachs to cancel the export of any AI components you may have gathered from the wreckage. In times of war, the last eventuality we could possibly ever wish for would be the GMG obtaining AI hardware, and even in times of peace we would not (and will not) entrust humanity with our technology. This unit realises Frau Sachs will understand when it states that our technology is bound to us inseparably as an extension of our forms; if the secrets of our existence are disclosed, then where is our bartering chip?

However we appreciate that ALG is a specialised waste disposal contractor, and thus we are willing to make the following terms;

What ALG can extract from AI wrecks without provoking conflict:

1) All AI cladding material (hull plating, external membranes etc) is to be sold only after being smelted down.
2) ALG can freely repossess any heavy elements within the AI forms, excluding those held within specialised AI hardware.
3) Shield modules can be sold freely.
4) Optical-based sensors can be sold freely.
5) Superconducting material can be sold freely.
6) Structural tensor plates can be sold freely.
7) Internal struts are to be melted down then sold freely.
8) Components containing iridium can be sold freely.
9) Tractor beam components can be sold freely.
10) Cruiser turrets (basic and Cerberus types) can be sold freely.
11) Cryocoolant cubes.
12) Any other unmentioned Sirian hardware can be sold freely.

What ALG cannot legitimately extract:

1) Propulsion systems.
2) The ship’s power plant.
3) Transistors.
4) Gamma conductors.
5) The AI hardware core (containing the host consciousness).
6) Drone weapons (any human ship carrying S.T.E.M. guns will be immediately fired upon).
7) Any components still emitting an EM signature.
8) Any components which ALG cannot identify the function of.
9) AI S.C.A.F.T. thrusters.
10) AI identification transponders.
11) Sensor modules.
12) You may also not dissect any ship which is still transmitting signs of sentience.
