Good day capt.. uh, sir Wolfe. I'm Sarah Farlan, stranded captain of the BES Kipling. You might have noticed it, uh.. It's the battered Shire with the 'Sair-stench sitting in the dry-docks, and it has been for weeks.

*she pauses for a few seconds to prepare herself*

Well I uh.. As you probably know, seeing as you're on the board of directors, it's been decided that funding for repairs are to be cut off and that it'd be more economically viable to either get me reassigned or let go, same goes for the crew. I'm sending this message to uh, kind of request you to maybe try greasing the wheels for me as it were. I mean, you know.. Since you're on the board and all, you have some weight in your word. The ship has been just sitting there for almost a week now and it's queued for scrapping within in a few days, but I'd really prefer it to keep my job. The damage isn't as severe any more, but the issue is that the reactor and engine need complete replacement which is quite costly. Bloody 'sairs boarded and set well-placed charges to cause maximum damage.. Of course there are some more small things that need repairs, but those are the notably costly ones as I understood it.

However, I believe that the company will earn more in the long run by getting me back in the air and I really hope you'll agree. I have no black marks on my record as far as I know I'm a competent captain, certainly sticking to protocol more than some of my dear colleagues still in flight. If there's any kind of possible arrangement we can get to which results in me getting to keep my ship and position, I'll be infinitely grateful.

I uh, hope that you'll at least consider it, sir Wolfe. I've heard only good about you and I'm sure it's true.

Ah Sarah. It is nice to see the face of the name that's been affixed to the reports that have been floating around the office for the past week. And yes I have noticed the battered shire sitting in the rather unsightly condition for a while.

*Stew beemed a smile to lightening the mood*

Now I must start with an apology of sorts as to the delay with this reply. I must admit I took the original reports on you vessel at face value; being pressed for time an' all. But following the rather loud rumours that have been floating around 'ere in the last week and what you have just said I had a deeper look into the reports.

*a flush of frustration at the possible incoming implications quickly rose and fell across his face*

Now allowing the security of the vessel you have been placed in command of, to lapse to the point that 'Sair saboteurs could gain access to the vessel and have time to bypass system checks sufficiently so bombs they hid on board could go undetected till you were in space, with supplies...

*Stew pauses for a second*

....is unacceptable. But it appears to me that this is not entirely your fault and you are possibly just the ideal candidate for a local body government to use as a scape goat to cover up deficiencies brought upon by the war.

*the slight anger in his tone went, leaving a little bit of worry*

Were you even at Marsden spaceport as the report says, or is that a manufactured lie in the cover up?

*Stew's question hung in the air a moment as he thought over the possibility of 'Sairs hitting the Bowex controlled Bob Irving spaceport near the government building on Planet Cambridge*

Now; I share you view that Bowex will make more keeping you in active service than making a scape goat of you, not to mention the benefits to fragile Bretonian economy.

So I've have come to a decision.

*Stew checks a data pad in his hand before looking back and continuing*

I'll get the BES Kipling repaired at my cost under a private repair initiative. While that's going on you can take captaincy of one of my new Percherons the BES Ripley. That way you'll still be fresh once the repairs are done.

Also I'm going to dig around a bit and try clear the truth of the issues.

*Stew smiled his trademark fatherly smile*

So Sarah if you're happy with this decision, come and meet me in my office in the next day or two. I'll get Harriett at reception to get the required paperwork ready.

I don't really know how to thank you, sir Wolfe. I must say though that these rumours you mention have managed to get past me, but I can assure you that we followed protocol while visiting Marsden. If nothing else the Kipling's logs should back that up, unless they've been wiped while in the dry-docks.

Ah Sarah. It is nice to hear back from you. Now to me it is a little alarming to hear you were infact at Marsden Spaceport for a pick-up instead of ol' Bob Irving but you would of had proper reason.

*Stew smiled more to lightening the mood*

Now I have got the completed paperwork for the transfers of ownership and captaincy, albeit temporary transfers so I just ask that you bring the captain's copy log with you when you come down later. I can then compare them to the ships logs attached to the reports I have here.

*Stew briefly lifts into view the stack of reports in his hand.*

Even though you were at Marsden there is still no reason for you to be made the scapegoat of the security breach. Now I'm going to work as I said to clear your name so after our meeting later I've got a few contacts to get in contact with.

Ah Sarah. Well that was a rather enlightening meeting and one I'm glad that was undertaken. Now you have the access codes to the BES Ripley I trust you'll treat her well over the next few weeks.

Now hearing the shipment from Marsden was of industrial machinery and construction equipment did jog my memory of a rather obscure memo that was posted out to the board here recently.

*Stew briefly lifts into view the memo.*

I did find it after you left and it does confirm some extra shipments of 'war assistance materials' may be shipped out of other spaceports on Cambridge. But it doesn't mention Marsden. It doesn't mention any other spaceport for that matter.

*Stew pauses for a second and smiled*

Ah Sarah. Well my friend in the Cambridge parliament had run some inquires. And it brings some good news with some bad.

*Stew checks a secure report in his hand.*

Now he attained a copy of all pertinent transcripts during the day and this has brought to light a number of issues.

*Stew leafs through the report to the right page.*

Now it was Sargeant Maxwell Hassler that you talked to on the pad and who informed you that under their issue of orders they would watch your vessel while the loading crew worked. And investigations have found Sargeant Hassler to be clear of any wrong doing.

*Stew pauses for a second and frowns*

Here's where it gets hairy Sarah. Records show a transfer of three individuals into Sargeant Hassler's team approximately two and one half months ago. This was not requested not assessed by Sargeant Hassler. All attempts by him to have them transferred out were denied by his superior. Thus Sargeant Hassler split the three onto seperate shifts. Unfortunately on this shift the three had adjusted rosters to be on together.

*Stew pauses for a second and softens his frown*

We now believe the three were the Corsair operatives. With that in record and Sargeant Hassler cleared previously assessments on Sargeant Hassler's superior commenced.

*Stew started to smile greatly again.*

So the detectives have discovered he may of become a Corsair informant in his time in the Liberty police force and continued when he transferred here a few years ago. So while that now opens a can of worms for the BPA on Cambridge they have filed the paperwork to absolve you from the incident and are clearing any fines that were due to be laid. So that is great new Sarah. If you want to view the portions of the report your security clearance will allow then come and see me.

I can't really thank you enough for having looked into this. But to think that Corsairs are operating within our government on such a high level to be able to do anything like this... It's an incredibly scary thought. To think that they were able to pull strings like that and good folks like Sgt. Hassler is unable to stop it due to the bureaucratic restrictions we've brought upon ou.. our... *she sneezes* ...ourselves. Sorry about that.

*she pauses for a second and collects herself*

I would like to see that report though, I'll send Mrs. Harriett a word and book a meeting with you. And if I don't sound rude, does this mean you could get your money back you've thus far spent on repairs for the Kipling? Or maybe at least the company will pay for what remains? With this kind of evidence that it wasn't our fault, I can't see why they would deny us further.
