We already have such for the wild cloaks, which require a powercell, costing 4 millions (used to be 1 million before), to run their cloak. So every time they die. They got to buy a new one.
That combined with ammo costs, gets you to +5 millions each death. I for example "lost" already hundreds of millions with that.
This should be applied to the nomad infinite cloak.

And for what reason? Nomad indies are limited to solely the Omicrons and the K'Hara has a strict recruitment process and upholds a high level of standards. There's no potential for abuse in Nomad perma-cloaks as they take forever to charge up and there's no lore issue as they had the technology originally iirc.
It was only applied to wild cloaks and not nomad cloaks in general, because devs hate Wilde. )
Uhm, in fact, nomad ships - or bodies - exist of energy, able to run the cloak. (Cloaks are nomad tech anyways.) So lore-wise it makes sense, that nomads don't need anything to run the cloak. Actually, they shouldn't even have to buy them but have them automatically with the ship itself.
Still, we could give human ships some kind of "powercore" commodity, which gets destroyed every time the ship is destroyed. And have it cost 4 millions, too.
In the end, I don't care for having a death penalty or not.

The reason is we already have more than enough money. Actually, the only moneysink for me is buying new ships every once in a while. Whether I have to pay 0.5M (ammo) or 1M (ammo + penalty) is utterly insignificant.
The people who are going to be affected are new players who don't have much money. And they are already actively trading to buy bigger transports or shiny caps.
If the penalty system is set right, your and all of us vet's "more than enough money" won't last that long to make the penalties look insignificant. The idea is to have penalties given according to the size/class of the ship, the bigger it is the more it will cost to repair. That also means there were examples of no penalty in the case of very small ships. And if the new players are actively trading to get bigger ships, they shouldn't be afraid too much of the significance of these penalties.
Yes seriously whats up with all the QQers, the replies now simply admitted that people got too lazy to trade and seach for ways to gather money. This just freakin showed how lazy the community is omg, seriously guys? Cry more about how u suck in PvP and how you can't trade.
I refuse to play games that have a penalty for dying in them. My main reason for this is: There are some players out there who get their kicks out of destroying other peoples stuff that they took time to develop. I have no intention of becoming the goat that feeds that sort of troll.
Omg it's just 200k - 500k, also the player that kills you wont get any money, you guys sound like you're re engaging all the time even though there is a rule of 2 Hours not coming back o_O. Sounds like the community plays without following the rules, eh? If you think about it, 200k for 2 hours and you don't play every day I assume, isn't realy much. You can earn this by very easy routes of trading hell.
Think about caps, it's just more worth it. Cause my other idea was to completely remove higher caps then Cruisers - Battlecruisers for indies, this penalty would be at least a more better solution.
Cause look at what basicly happens because of the lolwut indies that don't care about any rules in discovery result = Zoners getting Caps removed, result = Artificial Intelligences can't engage in a system containing a Jumpgate (This all happened because of the abuse of AI Cruiser), result = Coalition Destroyers are only allowed for official SCRA Members, result = other Factions will get their Caps removed soon too, result = Liberty is now full of Capital Ships and lolwut indies that engage on sight, RPing in Liberty just sucks nowadays no enjoyment, result = when people having a fair fight after some very interesting Roleplay and all sudden lolwut indie newb players appear and destroy the atmosphere even though you tell them to stop. So you realy think this makes me care about you not liking to pay penaltys on games?
Just because you don't like something its not worth to risk stuff like that.
AND SERIOUSLY, restoking, rebuying Mines, Missiles, CDs and Nanobots ISN'T PART OF REPAIRING! Like seriously, you think getting fuel for a Car is repairing the Car itself? The hell, this is just an excuse.
