Depends on attitude. Every game with persistent universe/world has grinding aspect. Either killing NPCs to raise skills in RPG games, either trading/doing mission in space sims. Take grinding as granted part of the game, as opposed to unnecessary obstacle to reach the goal ( level up/money up ) and you are on the right path.
I will be very blunt here, if no grinding was involved here, you wouldn't see traders, then you wouldn't see unlawfuls on lanes/gates, and all you would see is constantly PvPing lawfuls and criminal ganksquads with battleships and assorted crap. It would get pretty boring and we would be even closer to sirius-wide Conn centralised in very few systems.
If people quit because they cant get easy cash, then they are not suitable to play here, let alone many other games like EVE.
And, if at all making money was even more easier, then this place would be whole mess of people who dont give a damn about RP.
Right now, I see money making as a filter to those who can play the game in the long run and have the tolreance to make money and RP at the same time. Eliminating the weak ones, that just come for free stuff and easy to get cash. I suggest Single Player as it is easy to get more money within seconds.
Also, faction leaders too have to spend time to get money. They are taking care of their members, if not, there wont be a faction in the first place. And when you want easy money, why would you expect the faction leaders to give away the money they have earned after all the hard work(they still donate to the faction coffers, but how much can they donate?)
Ok, I'm worthy to receive said money because I'll make another cau8 Jorm and share it between [RHA] members, so hessian capspam will be one more jorm powerful.

Most valid point evah. Its true no gridning no traders . But dont give Rpgs as an example its a diffrent thing. In rpgs you have combat and skills while grinding in freelancer you have to time jumps and do the best route for $ for a minimum ammount of time in order to have better profits . Sure there is combat as a trader ( NPCs Pirates ) but most will avoid and just run away

If you make a faction its you responsability to take care of that faction. Like Wow Some GMs give gear to ther peeps so they could be stronger ( yes i know there are people that would just take the stuff for them slf ). This is why you have members you have to make them give $$$$ for the coffers like Guilds in wow.
All the points you raised just say one thing . Dont give nothing to anyone .
Factions have players they can work to get money.
Dont give money to newbs because if they infest X ammount of time they might stay longer.
I said, in my first post, is not to give 5k and caps to newbies. And you never understand, do you?
Factions are still donating ships to new recruits who dont have a new one. And getting a ship adds to their advantage. You still have not spoken one good thing that might happen, by donating illustrous ships to newbies. I am not against helping them though. But not this kind of help, that makes them devoid of grinding tough to make cash.
Overall, your point is that, newbies should get new ships easily without effort, then thisis no game and there is no meaning to it.
I have donated my ships to IMG when I was on the verge of leaving. So, you can never point at me saying that " do not give ships to anyone". Raise valid points, instead of dumb reasons that " my friends left because they couldnt get easy pies". Thats why I suggesed SP, easy money and no interactions whatsoever. :|
EDIT: And why the hell should a faction member work to fill its coffer all day long? They can donate when there is a need though, like submitting faction request, or for some RP events. If at all a new guy wants free ship, let him join a faction, which does good on many levels, for his RP, for the faction activity and much more. If he gets a ship, all he does is, ftw, I am flying this until I get a BS and give no damn to player interaction. Not their fault, since they wont know that RP is the real fun in their first few days.
NONONONONO.
Whatever you do, do NOT give it to the Angels. Give it to angels, who are actually ingame a lot. Look at their faction. See who is the most active. Give it to them instead for spending time helping newblets.
