Should I report players with FL ID flying a 5K?

Question in title...

I see them all the time, yesterday while playing a Nomad indie I seen a player with an AI ID flying a 5K... he ran from me for a while until he realised he was gonna die then F1'd out. I still killed him...

Then I was playing a pirate and seen another 5K with FL ID, this seems to be very common.

How about we make a rule where a pirate/terrorist(or maybe ANY player, Navy etc) can openly attack a player that's breaking thier IDs ship restriction it would save players making reports and cuts out some work for the admins.

In RP the Navy could say "that ship is not licenced to you" etc, and a pirate/terrorist could just be a murdering maniac...

Since these players are effectively cheating there should be a system in place to prevent it. Of course there is the "file a report" option, but it probably goes unnoticed for a long time because most players turn a blind eye/don't bother checking and they just keep getting away with it.

Vigilanteism is not the answer. How can you demand that another individual obeys a ruleset when you, through this act, are disobeying them yourself? The rules are not going to be changed to allow players to take punishment for rules violations into their own hands. This type of punishment is ineffective anyway since, if the player at fault does not know they are breaking the rules, they will remain unaware without some form of notification from the server authorities.

Send them a brief //oorp private message in game indicating that they need to check their ID/the rules. If they don't acknowledge your message, report them.

Make sure you are not confusing the IFF you see when you click on a targeted ship, and the ID that you have to scan a cargo hold for.
I was under the impresion that a Freelancer ID would not allow you to purchase a 5k.

I used to do that...then one of my reports didn't get processed for apparently rule-lawyering. Now I feel all I can do is just file a report silently, unless they are obviously a new player (often the case with these kinds of violations anyways).

Be sure to simply ask them using a helpful tone. Mention the rules, not that you're going to report them: "Change it or I report you!" is not what we want to see.

i just PM them and say that the ID doesnt allow that ship size and suggest either a corp ID that allows it or a smaller ship.

This seems to be one of the only times INRP that anyone could pew one of these rule breakers. I've seen dozens of players flying whales with FL or other corporate ID's. So by the right of zonerzonerzoner I should be able to kill on sight (if playing zoner), correct? (I'm sure many will disagree, but that's what the info-card sez)

I just ignore it most days, I tried to tell someone there ID did not let them fly there ship and this is what they say "I don't care so shut up and leave me alone"
And I feel bad reporting that...well if they say that to me I think of it....but I never have just cause I'm to lazy xD
