I'm not really sure what happened last version, when Silver (and artifacts) were simply left in their buffed state for months and months.
But I can't be the only one who loved those buffs when they changed.
It was a fantastic and simple activity driver, as long as the buffs were in place you'd know where to find people.
It's also a great way to get people to haul things nobody normally does - I'm thinking of exotic imports from Gallia here, for example.
Was there any reason they never returned? Who else would like to see them reinstated?

It requires an Admin to do it, and Jammi was the only one making it happen. With him absent, no one else has continued with it. It's probably not the best time right now either, as the mod is still technically in beta.
At least for me, I'm in a mood to try out some new things, new ships. So more money in my wallet means I get to try more stuff, and potentially find more bugs before the beta ends.
But you could also say this will discourage me from trading in the months(years?) before the next beta cycle.

That's the idea. Maybe we could have one type of ore, one type of contraband, and one regular commodity.
It's easy enough to find a reason for anything, really.
"Heightened clashes have led to an increased demand for Military vehicles / Med-stasis bands"
"Superstar XY is visiting Curacao, leading to increased prices for passenger flights"

I realize that's the reason they stopped, thus this thread to gauge community opinion on bringing them back.
It may be in beta, but that shouldn't mean we can't have events like that, should it? It's certainly a stable enough beta at this point.
(unless of course there's another rollback coming, ohgodplsno)

Well, the price increase last time was 20%. Sure it's a nice bonus, but it's hardly enough to massively affect the amount of money in the economy.
If it again is done on "let's buff already overpowered factions for few good months" basis, then no thanks. I had people telling me they won't join DHC because we don't mine silver, and lost 2 new members due to that.

Last time the months long increase was due to Jammi did not turn off the buff, right? The previous 2-week long buffs would be good though I think. 2 weeks is rather short, I mean if one ore, one contraband and one regular is buffed at once, the same contraband and ore will be buffed many times in a short timeframe.
I'd suggest buff only one commodity at a time, but alternate the type with every buff: first 2 weeks - contraband; next 2 weeks - regular; next 2 weeks - ore; next 2 weeks - contraband; and so on. Why should all types be buffed at once? You are a miner and contrband is buffed? Well, wait for your turn.
One more thing: regular commodity buffs should be substantial, increasing a profit from 500/unit to 600/unit won't inspire traders to haul the commodity instead of ore.
Oh, and buffs might be limited to certain areas; previous ore buffs included a price increase at ALL buy points. However, what about this: food shortage in Gamma; food sell price is like, 5000/units on Crete; this excludes house shippers, but the next buff might be in their benefit. This is also a more complex work as close food buy points should be disabled to avoid easy and short trade routes.
This could be made the other way around, decreasing the buy price at certain bases to open up newly profitable routes.

> 1 type of normal trade commodity

I know that this is not possible at the moment without Admin intervention.
I think that this feature would be worth coding (but I have to admit I have no clue what amount of work that is and even whether it is possible)
