As a quick introduction, I am Jacques Tavernier, Chief Executive Officer of EFL Oil & Machinery. EFL has a proud history of supplying the Kingdom with the fuels it needs to grow and thrive, from its time as a small colony to its current state of glorious expansion. While our ancestors were fortunate enough to "plop," so to speak, on seemingly endless supplies of fossil fuels, our Research & Development Department has begun experimenting with hydrogen and other gaseous fuel sources, comparing engine output and efficiency with our current designs.
Thus, I come to you. It could be said that the Gas Miners Guild not only has expertise in recouping and distributing its produuct but also how its products may be used. I would like to organize an observational visit of your operations to familiarize myself and EFL as a whole about the processes you use to refine high quality fuels. Should we be able to successfully hybridize our current engine systems to use a mix of fossil and hydrogen fuels, we would also consider discussing possible future provisioning arrangements. Of course, EFL stands ready to provide you the same hospitality at its facilities.
I hope we might come to an acceptable visitation arrangement.

Konbanwa Tavernier-sama,
Guild Master Taro Katsuo, at your service, and it's my honour to represent the Guild for the duration of this communique. I will not bore you with a lengthy lesson, at least not more so than necessity requires, detailing the Guild's history and that of our leading business of extracting and refining gaseous materials, as you are without a doubt already informed of our endeavours and achievements in this very business branch.
While we're always on the lookout for profitable co-operations with new partners, and that of lucrative business ideas, we consider our lifework an art of unchallenged perfection. With utmost sincerity and devotion, we aspire to be the sole unquestionable miner, refiner and supplier of the industry. And we're prepared to do whatever it takes to remain as such.
Understandably, we're neither willing nor able to reveal anything but the most rudimentary when it comes to our gas extraction and refining processes. That said, our scientists are most welcoming to ideas and new possibilities when it comes to the applications of our products, may it be the finished H-fuel mixture, or the elemental hydrogen and helium-3 which we so zealously mine. I believe that both of our people can find common ground in this field, and I wouldn't like the Guild to miss out on such an opportunity to broaden our commercial reach.
I'd like to formally invite You and the EFL to the Niigata Station in Sigma-59. As we may start with the introductory talks and theoretical ideas there, we can later proceed to the Namura Research Station for the possible continuation of our work, hopefully more so in practical terms, or if it's back to the drawing board, so to speak.
Of course, that is, if you're still interested, Tavernier-sama.
I appreciate your willingness to reach out to us. While it was not my intent to presume that EFL might have similar refining abilities to GMG or the ability to develop those capabilities, I apologize if my statements could be construed as such. The Kingdom, like the other Houses, uses what resources it has been blessed with, and we are in no position to move toward h-fuel refining in any substantial form.
Indeed, this is what makes GMG's cooperation with our research and development department critical to some of their operations. I appreciate your hospitality, and I have great hopes for our initial discussions. I always consider it best to leave details to face-to-face meetings, and I hope what we have to share will be enlightening.
I will have my personal transport, the Sarcelles, readied as soon as possible. I look forward to seeing Niigata in her glory for myself.
We owe you and your Guild many thanks for our last, impressively instructive encounter. I contact you mainly to apprise you of our current work and to seek suggestions should you have them.
With the generous amount of Helium-3 and H-Fuel the Guild so kindly provided, our engineers have managed to convert a set of Lynx fighters to non-oil engine and electrical systems. While our standard engines inject vaporized oil into the engines for combustion on such small craft, we have managed to make the conversion with limited changes to our current production methods. Additionally, almost all snub craft rely on proportionately massive sets of batteries to power on-board systems that need to be charged and replaced regularly – navigation components, life support systems, control surfaces if applicable, etc. Some of our engineers have proposed using a combination of H-Fuel and Oxygen to create electricity from the same fuel source powering the engines. While this may seem to make sense to those outside the Kingdom, our dependence on Oil has greatly curbed our . . . creativity, so to speak.
In sum, we see great promise using your products. We are currently testing H-Fuel’s efficiency in sustained cruise and will hopefully issue some experimental craft to the Royal Navy for combat testing. The “cracking” process allows us to remove the battery banks on the ships and promises to increase the reliability of electric components 40%-60% as well as lowering production costs. In all, this would be pleasing news to the Crown. Per our conversation, a mutual – political – discussion should be ripe in the coming weeks.
While small ships have lent themselves easily to conversion, our work with larger ships is just beginning. We have recently hired a specialty engineer from Kishiro to lead these efforts, and per his suggestion, we were hoping to ask yet another favor – the possibility of acquiring an “Akegata” Container Transport. The craft itself has ample room for research personnel, and the ability to reverse-engineer higher-end components and systems while in space would be invaluable. While we know the Guild does not produce these craft, we would prefer to keep our connections limited for the time being. We will gladly reimburse the Guild for its efforts.
Finally, we have managed to contract for some additional storage space at Montbrison in Lyonnais. If the Guild would still offer to deliver some additional shipments of fuel, we can offer $3,000,000 per thousand units. We have room for ten-thousand, and I have been advised it will be put to use quickly.

Konbanwa Tavernier-sama,
First of all, I'd like to thank you for coming to visit us. Our meeting proved to be not only educational, but promising as well.
I'm glad our products could be of use to you, though I must say that I'm very surprised if not somewhat worried about the haste which you've already managed to get a working, converted engine prototype. I sincerely hope you're not rushing the subject carelessly, as it could prove disastrous if things were to go wrong, or as we say in the Guild; "to go Kruger". That said, I must admit that your work is impressive indeed. We weren't expecting you to be this far ahead in the research field but for several months, if not even years. Well done, to both you and your team, Tavernier-sama!
We should have no difficulties in the acquisition of an Akegata class transport ship, to sort out the necessary paperwork and licenses to transfer the ownership of it to you. Though in return, I'd like to ask you a favor on behalf of one of my members. He'd like to acquire the license to purchase one of your domestically built transports, namely the Pachyderme, and captain it under GMG colors and registration. If this can be arranged, both he and I would be grateful to you.
We'd be more than happy to deliver you shipments of our premium fuel. I'll see to it that our Commerce division starts working on your request, and you can expect our delivery soon. We'll send you a report, once the delivery has been completed.
While I certainly hoped our progress would be promising, let me assure you it is far from bullet-proof just yet. The skill and tact involved in converting a fighter from one fuel source to another is minuscule in comparison to the tasks that await us, and problems have been rather easy to correct in the field. While testing continues, there will yet be more surprises for us, I am sure, before our craft become issuable to the Crown en masse. In the meantime, your willingness to help us look ahead is a boon to EFL, and this Akegata will be an instrumental part of our work. I’m glad what we’ve asked hasn’t been too much considering our young relationship.
I’ll have the Pachyderme you’ve requested commissioned as a personal favor, an especially important one given the kindness and cooperation you’ve shown us.
We look forward to receiving your shipments, and if arrangements can be made in time, I would enjoy hosting your representatives myself during the unloading process.
By way of update, we've received delivery of the authorized Akegata, and she is performing admirably in the hands of our project director, Volkar Mizaki. We expect her to serve for quite a while, well beyond her current, specific purpose. We are indeed grateful.
She has been christened the Tsunenaga, a respectful reference to the first of your ancestors on Earth to make contact with our own. We hope she can symbolize a new era in our relationship as her namesake did centuries ago. I expect trials to take her as far as your space if you'll have her, and we look forward to her return to Kusarian space.
I expect all is well for now, but I look forward to being in touch soon. We remain at your service.
