The Hegemon has the arms of excavation that are never used while driving.
How about if we could enable those modules that could be connect to an asteroid in an asteroid field so getting a "bonus resources collected per second"?
Unfortunately, the knowledge to manipulate model animations in Freelancer is a very rare skill - I'm not sure we'd actually be able to make that happen.
The vanilla and Discovery mining mechanics also aren't associated with any information about a ship's model, so there isn't any way to get a mining bonus associated with a model animation. In order for Hegemons to mine large asteroids, we'd basically have to create a new subset of the mining system just to manage that, which isn't really the most effective use of our time in the near future.
On a seperate note concerning moving parts on ships, wasn't the leader of TBH supposed to get a Corsair transport with rotating horns, or was that just a joke?
We might as well the animation leave it alone. But at least we could put a sort of "Automatic control" only in the server RP 24/7 that will automatically puts tot. resources per second.
I'm sorry to say but we have visited this in the past. It was looked into but as Echo has already mentioned; making moving components to player ships is an incredibly difficult concept. We tried looking into making the arms an attachable weapons slot but it only served to disappoint in terms of what the aim was compared to the end result.
The answer to the question is yes. It can be done with an enormous amount of time and effort and perhaps restructuring the game physics. But another question is, would it be worth it?
