Quote:As I have always said about balance: While I agree that things shouldn't be op, if your enemy merely has an advantage over you, then there are several ways to counter that advantage in methods such as skill, organization or strength in numbers. Balancing everything completely just means that the elitist pvpwhores with their perfect reaction times and 0.001ping and mad skills would always win, and that is no fun for the average skilled or the unskilled, who might want to have a chance too.
+1, that is exactly it. If the ship is stronger than you in 1vs1, then why are you fighting like that? I am not saying that players should gank, but... tactics is tactics. If it works, it aint stupid... everything can be countered. Everything. If not with your ship, then with the help of another ship. Or another faction.
Quote:If I had my way with Nomads, they would lose their snubcrafts but get OP capitals. When one pops up out of nowhere, everyone should crap their pants, run away or unite to shoot one down.
I agree about the caps, but as for the Nomad snubs, I would say just give them very HIGH damaging weapons so they can still be dangerous and intimidating, but very low hull strength and low bots/bats so they can be popped fairly easily if the opposing pilot is good enough.
Quote:Restricted equipment everywhere.
While I agree with the idea very much in principle, you're going to get an overwhelming negative cry of folks of "elitism" for this kind of suggestion. A better option may not be to restrict in this sense, but make NEWER ships/weapons/equipment for Officials only (who should get their own ID).
I wonder though. What about people who play factions such as Junkers? They have a sirius wide zoi, can gain all sorts of allies and enemies and have a flexible range of activities to involve themselves in.

Limits they already have:
-No access to caps above GB strength
-Limited RP (cannot pirate in House space)
-Restricted to little access into Kusari
More weaknesses that I could imagine:
-Lower shield strengths and energy efficiency to reflect the more "rugged" and slapped-together nature of their ships.
Strengths I could imagine:
-Smuggling bonuses
-Strong Shield-buster guns
-Specialized Cruise Disruptors/Missles
-May pirate ALG anywhere (and suffer RP consequences if the authorities see it)
*this would be in addition to the Scrap & Premium Scrap mining bonuses they already have
and the overall frailty in their neutrality with houses, being limited to a near-hostile neutral reputation with most factions which is easily destroyed just with the destruction of one measely npc, everytime an ageira is near my junker the liberty defenses go wild
Shame that this topic died... Well, I think that the ideas here are at least considerable by the development team. Lets face it, Disco is dying out. And this could boost the activity. I have not seen here a great argument against it, only that it could be abused... and it could not. Everything would have its counter...

Love the Idea, but. Just one 'Call it an argument or just me sarcasm' If I wanted to play where One thing Countered another but to counter that, I would need a 3 party to hit him.
I'd just stop and go play rock-paper-Scissors with my sister.
But I do like the idea.

Some people like flying snubs a billion times more than flying capitals. They also like (role)playing Nomads. Not to mention that Nomad snubs exist in vanilla, so lore isn't a good reason to get rid of them either.
Also, I like balance more than lore-based imbalance. Also, the Bastet is an amazing ship. It kills Nomads pretty damn efficiently, since Nomad ships are generally garbage. (:
Plus, the server population today has been 60 or less than 60. On a Saturday. I don't think making it take > 1 player to kill 1 player in a ship of the same class balance-wise is a good idea.
Mind you, I think asymmetry with certain factions' ships is fine. Nomad ships should be different to fight than human ships, for example. However, no ship should be objectively better (at certain things) than another.

I hope you're not referring to the rather well-balanced .86 Sabre here. The current one is actually better than that one was. Not to mention the .86 Sabre was up against the .86 EasyModeNyx.
