Could we have deployable weapon platforms like the ones spawned during missions? Or minefields? Just like mission platforms, deployable platforms and mines shouldn't be too hard to destroy or deal too much damage; I think it would bring another after POBs element of dynamism to the mod.
I imagine that in a similar way base constructor deploys new bases - with special command, using resources in the process. Think of a new activity chain and fun of a cat-and-mouse game between opposing factions, setting up guarded by not really dangerous platforms or mines (unless in high numbers) areas and their enemies patrolling space in search of hostile buildup to destroy it.
I don't know how easy/hard would that be to implement, but since we already have deployable structures in the form of POBs, I thought it's worth asking.
Its an innovative idea and will certainly add to the dynamic nature of the POB element.
But just one doubt in my mind - Wouldn't that cause a problem for the factions which don't have active player group ???
Although I understand that it will be quite easy to destroy, but if it is, then why would someone take the pain to build it ???
But yes, the positive side, can be a guard system with many Mines and platforms forbidding any enemy infiltration (as more the number would make, destroying them relatively difficult as you have mentioned)

I believe such suggestion (not necessarily in this form) was already part of discussions regarding PoB (re)balance. Back then I remember suggestions popping up such as dividing PoBs to different specialized versions, a trade/storage/manufcture hub which would only differ from the current version at losing it's offensive capabilities (read. weapon platforms), and an easy-build easy-destroy low-cost version with solely offensive capabilities. The only problem I could see regarding anything related to PoBs is that I recall Kaz being the dev behind the whole, but I don't think recalling him to continue his work is an option now. I could be wrong though.

This was already discussed in dev chat months ago(at that time with the option of implementing it as a perk for carriers) but it kind of vanished at some point without a real decision being made.
I'd really like to see this happening. Maybe you need a 'construction module' or something on your ship (Put it in CM slot, and then a fixed amount of resources to build it via command). They should take a fixed damage amount of damage per minute so they don't last forever (like 20 minutes if nobody bothered to attack?).
About shipclasses using it - I'd be up for transports below 4300 cargo to give those more purpose in terms of combat like a support ship
