You might want to add Deuterium to the Premium Scrap run, as it's a slighty less profitable but legal alternative to Cardamine.
You can get it off both respective shipyards (Valletta and Tripoli).

To where? I was briefly looking through FL Companion, and it doesn't really seem that good, about 110c/sec profit.

It's not meant to be a top tier commodity, but it's just a good alternative if Liberty is crawling with lawfuls at the time.

Note : even if you buy the Helium at Emleton´s for 1250 you can sell it at Miura for 5,027. That´s the reason USI needs Miners ... and if you want to take a short route back :

I would just like to say, first I don't like to time my runs by seconds, but rather by number of systems and risk taken.
That being said...
I personally take slaves from Pittsburg to Planet Mirua in Okinawa for about 2000 profit on each, I then head to the player base Shuri ( which was there a few weeks ago) in the cloud 13k from the mining facility that one of the trade lanes take you to and buy helium 3 for about 3500 each and transport them back to Pitts for a profit of about 6000 a unit and repeat.
The only real danger is police on the way to Mirua which might require you to take the long route in Shikoku if there is a police officer in the system, other wise this requires a lot of money to start ( take 16 mil to buy the helium from Mhuri with a 4350 cargo ship) but otherwise is safe and lets you meet many people on a popular trade area in only about 7 systems ( including the beginning and end systems)
P.S. As a side note helium from the player base in Erie may be substituted for slaves, it give 500 less per unit and increases the distance by 1 system either way, however doing this will create a very safe run ( except in Kepler and Shikoku which pirates enjoy pirating in due to the amount of traders present.
P.S.2. Also you will require good standing with the GMG and DSE as the bases present in this route require those reps to land, it also wouldnt be bad to be good with the police, it helps to get a smoother run.

Then selling Cardamine at Los Angeles or Alcatraz is a lot better choice than taking Deuterium.

Number of systems is not very good to use because you can spend 5 minutes going through a system or you can spend 30 seconds. Risk taken is difficult to calculate.
The layout of the trade route seems to be very confusing, atleast for me. If there can be less colors maybe, and a proper readable text, I guess the newbies wont be having a tough time going through this tutorial.
Might come up with a few trade routes and smuggling routes once I can figure out how to use that template, if you don't want to change it.
