Pausing for a second to study the man's facial expression, he continued,
"There is no way to be sure anything useful will come out of this conversation, but then again, aren't we both all for taking chances? Nothing's gained if you don't take a risk, and this, I would hardly even call a risk. We're having a nice conversation, enjoying the view over a drink, so even if we go nowhere, it would've still been a pleasure."
"It's a little experiment solely for my personal amusement, really... Nothing major."
Then picking up his notepad he started tinkering with something on the screen as he continued,
"I mentioned a couple of busy years, but they were fruitful too. Got my hands on a few blueprints through the run, and figured why not toss 'em all in a blender and see what comes out of it. Had to pull a few strings here and there to get access to a facility and a team capable of actually managing something like that, of course, but that's really besides the point. Everything's ready and in motion already, and so, stuff can be done. The reason I contacted you, however..."
Putting the pad down, he looked at the man again and continued,
"Is because you've done something similar to this already, and when someone does something like this, they get a load of ideas, not all of which they can actually try out. So as I said, as interesting as the result of your work is, unlike most that's not really what I'm interested in. What I'm actually interested in, are the ideas you had but didn't get to actually try and see how it turns out. So, you can say what I'm offering you is a free-of-charge chance to give those ideas a shot and see how they turn out, which of course would only be an offer worth considering if you take excitement in satisfying your curiosity like I do."
"Life is a map. As limited or infinite as every individual decides for oneself. While I am a discoverer with passion, I enjoy exploring my head even more so. And it would indeed be a waste to let the imaginations remain unused."
Driven by curiosity, he gazes into aerelm's dark reflecting eyes, trying to get a glimpse of whatever the pad might be displaying.
"In the end, our days are counted. No one lives forever and the boundaries of life will make the memories about someone be buried in oblivion. What remains are his ideas - what he lived for, and what he left behind."
Tapping on the pad a few more times, he turns it around and slides it across the table. A gallery with various documents, graphs and schematics is open on the screen.
"Since the word 'confidential' is thrown around a few good times in those files, it's needless to say that if you agree to this arrangement I'll be providing you with a... uh, 'playground' but in return would expect you to keep any details regarding the toys to yourself, as considering the paranoid state the general Cast population's been in since their civil war, it'd be better to keep unwanted audience out of this, just for the sake of smoother workflow, you'd understand."
Reclining again and giving the man a few minutes to go through the files on the pad, he finally adds,
